About Me

Aaaahh new bio! Ive been putting this off forever how do you fit 13 years of rock n roll on the back of a beer coaster? (Im going to need at least two and I apologise in advance if I start slurring my typing!) Six Ft Hick are from Brisbane, Queensland Australia....(Brisbane produced some great bands, The Saints and The Bee-gees, The Go-Betweens being just three of 'em.) Sixfthick (stupid name) hatched in 1995 - five city-living farm boys who had not a clue, got together to do a little stage show called Country Style Livers, penned by Gentle Ben and yours truly - thats me, Geoffro................... So the original line-up was: Geoffro & Gentle Ben (vox), Dan Baebler (bass), Karim Birdhat Mellowship (guitar), and Fred (drums). Weve had a few line-up changes over the years - Birdhat (guitar) 95 -03; Ben Jones (guitar) 03-04. The current line-up:......................... Vox - Geoffro Corbett (The Tremors)Vox - Gentle Ben Corbett (Gentle Ben & His Sensitive Side)Guitar - Dr Dan Baebler (The Tremors; Side Effects)Bass - Tony 'the Jackyl' Giacca (Side Effects; Gentle Ben & HSS; Young Doctors; Horrortones)Drums - Fred (The Fred Band; Rocky Outcrop Experience)....................... In retrospect, and the other members would agree, I reckon we were shit for the first 3 years but for the next 8 we were white heat fucking genius! A dual pronged rocknroll hydra - sleazing forth from the swamps, cane drains and lantana of Shitsville, Queensland (population: You.) With a sound pilfered and plundered from the bottom drawers of rock n roll backed with an if it aint broke - then lets fuck with it attitude we unapologetically stumble, drunkenly, headlong into the night. Howling at dogs and humping the air while praying for your enlightenment. Yes. Thats what we do. We are Canepunk. We got fangs. But we walk upright just like you, we bleed and sweat just like you. We are the king hit at the piss-trough of life...................... Our first long-player "Chicken" was recorded in Melbourne in the year 2000 by Tony Cohen (Birthday Party, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Beasts of Bourbon). It sounded raw and tough and edgy, but we probably shoulda laid off the drugs. ........................ If youve never witnessed a SixFtHick show youve either been living under a rock or youre in jail for murder. All up Sixfthick has played way over 700 shows, done 60+ East Coast Australian tours and toured Europe and Japan (and broke lots of shit there). SixFtHick does not pay for damages. We play rocknroll - Geographical RocknRoll - we are a product of our collective Queensland backwater upbringings. Naivety, blind stupidity and luck is our credo. We are proud, some would call us staunch - but it didnt stop Fourex (its a type of beer (..or so they reckon), for you Southerners) threatening to sue us over a goddamn t-shirt. Heart breaking. Beer, my friend, is thicker than blood - it would seem!...................... A reputation as one of this countrys finest live rocknroll acts has seen SixFtHick gain support and tours for many and varied international acts. Some of the bands that we have enjoyed playing/touring with over the last decade include.....Rocket from the Crypt; The 5,6,7,8s ;Guitar Wolf; New York Dolls; Nashville Pussy;Link Wray(RIP);Mr Quintron; Fugazi; Boss Hog; The White Stripes (they actually played support for us, and were'nt too bad either); Unsane; Jesus Lizard; Hellacopters; The D4; Reverend Horton Heat; Supersuckers; Southern Culture On The Skids; Phantom Surfers; Immortal Lee County Killers; New Bomb Turks; Jon Spencer Blues Explosion; Andre Williams; Zoo Bombs; Royal Crown Revue ...........and great Australian Rock n Roll bands like Beasts of Bourbon, Cosmic Psychos , X , The Johnnys, The Powdermonkeys , The Onyas and Asteroid B612 to name just a few................... Played a bunch of festivals too - like: Big Day Out a couple of times; Meredith Music Festival x 2; Hootenanny x 2; ZZZ Market Day and the Livid Festival in Brisbane 2 or 3 times??? GarageSavage Fest in the Netherlands ..Dont ask when - its all a little scattered..................
