Influences: Influences: Two powerful ones spring to mind straightaway – Billy Childish and the band the Go-Nuts.Billy Childish, all round wizard of expression and diy passion. From an album by Thee Milkshakes (one of his bands) called “Thee Knights of Trash†specifically the song “I’ll use evil†was the seed of thee Argyles germinated. I could even pinpoint the line from the song“If I was Caesar, I’d have her head/brought before me in a golden chest/and she’ll be mine foreverâ€How good? His musical compositions, poetry and art are all well worth your attention dear reader. And ahh, the Go-Nuts – original purveyors and disseminators of their own one band genre – “snack rockâ€. An offshoot of the Phantom Surfers, they write about food and good times. They have an onstage prop called the snackstorm – a baseball launcher modified to shoot donuts, candy and sugar frosting into the audience. Apparently they have been banned from most venues in their hometown (San Francisco) for leaving all surfaces facing the stage covered in a nice one inch thick cover of icing. But apart from myself, Sir Loin, Lady Krystal, Duchess B and the Brig are absolute boffins when it comes to the sixties garage rock thing. They have forgotten more about good and obsure music in general than I will ever know. We all however share a love for all things the Who, all things Sex Pistols, and all things Carry On.And a big thankyou to Freddy Mercury wherever you are. Lest we forget the pattern you set.
