About Me
Sam Jun C. Lee (aka Sam or Jun) Was born in Seoul, Korea,
and grew up in a pastor's family.
He began playing bass while studying Electronic Engineering at Hanyang University, Korea.
In 2001, he first came to America to volunteer for CCC's Korean American ministry
in Los Angeles, CA. Then, he started studying music and bass with Zach Han and
Jonathan Ahrens, and decided to pursue music as his career. After receiving
B.S. degree at Hanyang University in 2004, he came back to Los Angeles to continue
his study music. Currently, Sam is studying Jazz Composition and Bass Performance at
Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. Studying with great musicians at Berklee such as
John Lockwood, Whit Browne, Steve Rochinski, Bruce Gertz, Matt Garrison, Greg Hopkins,
Ken Pulling, Scott Free, Bob Pilkington, Jetro da Silva etc.. made him able to explore to
the new level of music. He has been playing various types of music such as Jazz, Funk
, Gospel, R&B, and Rock. His musical influence is from John Patitucci, Herbie Hancock,
Bill Evans, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorious, Chick Corea, Christian McBride, Eddie Gomez,
Roy Hargrove, Fred Hammond, Doobie Powell, Kim Burrell, Me'Shell Ndgeocello etc. Right now, Sam is a very
active bassist/composer/band leader playing and helping a lot of different venues, local
churches, conferences, and recording sessions.
