About Me

Wooden Box Theater
It's on!
1995-2008 13 Years of Mayhem!

(Note:Tracks are in alphabetical order, and not in the album sequence)
We are a multitasking and tightly knit writing, music, photography, and performance team. We are based both in DeKalb, IL and the great city of Chicago, IL.
Each of the full time members brings a unique quality to the table with each novel, music track or performance we do. The behind the scenes crew is the best we could ever ask for. Weather its singing karaoke, performing at gothic events in the city, writing and publishing our Gothic Christian Mystery novel series for the internet, the members of Wooden Box Theater are above everything else, a group of amazing friends.
With 22 novels online, a new music CD ready for wide release online and another CD in the making, the team is always busy breaking new ground in the art and music industry.
Outside Wooden Box Theater all of us lead busy lives. Heather is part of the Karaoke Kompany and is the Executive Vice President of Realtor Associations for DeKalb-Ogle-Lee and Whiteside counties as well as being a successful seller of Signature Homestyles, Colleena is a print and film model, Miss Ammunition is part of the 313 Suspension Team, Chicago Mistresses and the Pain Kurst Girls, Mistress Asura is involved in art college, Dan is a country music karaoke singer, piano player, house music club dancer and involved with the 313 Suspension Team, Mistress Wicked is a very respected performance artist in Chicago, Mistress Aria proudly works for Ageless Arts Tattoo in Chicago and is a well known performance artist in the city, Goddess Feral is also a one of Chicago's most beloved performance artists, frequently showcasing her talent at the Continuum's monthly events. We are joined by our producer Matt Carlson who is the lead guitar player for the band Section Gang and a well known newspaper writer and Jon Hadley who is a very valuable part of the team as a well established local painter.
It is a strong passion for artistic expression and creativeness that brings us together as well as the bond of true friendship. The same bond that has kept this team and all of our incarnations over the past 13 years as successful and groundbreaking with each year that passes. While we are all very unique individuals there is a very special spark that ignites when we work together on a novel, a live performance, or karaoke song that makes it only possible with this group of amazing people.
To Read our novel series visit our writing site!

Catch Dan and Mistress Wicked performing as 'Wicked Combat' in Chicago this summer.
Come sing with us this summer in Chicago, IL with 'D/s Karaoke' our newest creation for the Scene!
We are now listed on the Artist page of Gothic Art Chicago
Our novels and recordings are hosted by the Internet Archive, and Internet Audio Archive.
I am pleased to announce the release of our new music CD!
Wooden Box Theater - Cut Through Iron Fire
80 Minutes of Unchained Vengeance
It was recorded between Jan and March of 2008. Featuring myself on vocals, drums, percussion and tape effects.
Influences - Late 60's/Early 70's Pink Floyd, Yes, Marillion, Radiohead, Mayhem, Emperor, Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, Underoath, The Chariot.
Prerelease copies are available now, providing you supply your own CDR. Those are free.
The CD is also available with a bonus track, the 8 minute 'Point of Lucid' only on Wooden Box Theater Flash on your own Flash Drive for Free. Must have 125MB of Storage Space!
The album flows perfectly together. I basically taught myself how to produce a music CD, while doing it on a computer instead of a recording studio. Lots of patience! Real Player can be a pain sometimes. I love my backward masking! Some of you remember the preview track, 'Unleash Fire to Escape' that I debuted a few weeks ago, well that one is on there, too.
The majority of the CD was recorded at home, a few song sections were done at the NIU Library and on the infamous 7 NIU bus, one track, 'Harpoon Edge' was recorded in the stairwell of the Founders Memorial Library, also 'Unleash Fire' was done at the Holmes Student Center on campus.
I am extremely pleased to release this new CD. For those of you who remember the 'Orange Salad' days of Wooden Box Theater, circa 1994, you'll pick on some of the influences of those early cassette releases. Especially in the drum parts.
You'll be able to tell that I listen to Pink Floyd. I unknowingly created a sound similar to the opening bass line of their song 'One of these days,' on accident. It's literally one note, but you'll think you have on the 'Meddle' CD. Just a shout out! And I didn't even use a bass.
The CD was digitally mastered by my upstairs roommate, J. Fudacz, who installed Disc Juggler on my laptop, perfect for multiple copies off the same master CD. He's been a big help during the mastering process, when I was ready to pull my hair out over Real Player.
Next up will be the follow up, which I'm already brainstorming about. It will be called, 'Surrounded Construction.' Until then, send or give me a blank CDR and you can have a copy of the CD for yourself! And in April I will release it more widely.
Can't say this enough. I'm in love with the CD! I listened to it on headphones, in the dark. It's eerie. Stuff comes at you. The end of it rules. One song sounds like a hole being drilled into your head. You may feel beat up afterward.
As far as genre? Hardcore. Psychedelic, Electronica! Perfect mix.
