Swizzle Tree definitely has a ring to its name which in a strange way defines the style of the band. Soaring melodies, crunchy guitars, magnetic harmonies, a solid rhythm section and strange personalities make up the unique sound and image of this infectious rock band. Born and bred in Chicago, Swizzle Trees members are no strangers to good music.With influences ranging from Bad Religion to Weezer and Stone Temple Pilots to Material Issue, this band shows no signs of weak spots in good songwriting.Releasing their label debut Here We Are on June 20, 2006 shows just that. Working hard in the studio has completely paid off, with solid tracks and new label (Areena) Swizzle Tree is poised to hit the road in support of their new album.Steve, Saarang, Todish and Jiggles all went to high school together at Downers Grove South in Downers Grove, Illinois.Working together at a retirement home, Steve, Saarang and Todish became quick friends-getting high and serving old people food is a good form of bonding. Not too long after, they started jamming together and realized they had something going. With an older brother in a successful local band, Saarang decided to follow in his footsteps and start singing. Steve and Todish both played guitar, and with a bass player and drummer, the band was born.Sprouting from all over the Chicago-land area, Swizzle Trees members knew what they wanted to do in life, play music.Going with the flow and not giving in to the ever-changing times, the Tree is definitely showing why they are here to stay by sticking to their roots. Releasing two albums during high school recorded in a friends basement (Imaginary Green, Left at the Cow), Swizzle Tree started building their local buzz.Selling out shows at the local YMCA and selling a few thousand records really made the band begin to think...............................they forgot what they were thinking about, but they knew it was all good.After a falling-out and church robbery, the Tree needed a new rhythm section-no fucking around this time. The addition of Jiggles on bass was worthy. Releasing their self-titled album, Swizzle Tree, featuring the song Green Eyed Fool mixed by Johnny K (Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Simple Plan), and selling 3,000 copies, the Tree started playing bigger and better shows in Chicago. Along with opening for such acts as Eve 6, Lit, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Sum 41, the Tree played Lollapalooza as well as clubs like House of Blues, Metro, and the Riv. Amo (final piece of the puzzle) taking over on drums in 2001 spawned the release of Play On, and a new and improved machine that started branching out in the Midwest. Touring states like Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota, built markets in different cities, spreading the word.
After a lot of hard work, agonizing van trips, and a radio add in Omaha, Nebraska, the Tree saw a steadily growing fan base and surge in record sales throughout the Midwest. With the track Marcs Car becoming a hit on Omaha based KIWR (89.7 The River) and selling close to 10,000 copies of their independent release Play On, the band quickly caught attention from labels across the country.After a long process of digging and deciding what was right for the band, Swizzle Tree found what they were looking for, signing with Reen Nalli (INXS, India.Arie, Blue October) and Nashville based Areena Records.
Now with a brand new label and brand new album, Swizzle Tree has no plans to stop growing unless it runs out of water.Saarang - Vocals; Steve - Vocals/Guitar; Todish - Guitar;
