About Me

follow mryantaylor at http://twitter.com
I'm a composer/vocalist with a love for many musics including new opera, electronica, some experimental forms, etc. My main projects include writing my third opera, 2121 : Pilgrim Winter (a tale of pilgrim colonization on a new world and the mysterious disease that plagues the colony : loosely based on "The Courtship of Miles Standish" by Longfellow), and VocalWorks.org where I produce various 'classic voice' events, including a 'sacred voice' competition and the 'opera in a month' challenge.
I produced/directed/performed-in my second opera The Other Wise Man December 2006 - January 2007. The score is now available (opens a new window).
My first opera, "Abinadi," was performed by BYU opera in 2003 (in which I played the role of King Noah in one of the casts). The opera was taped and has been broadcast on BYUTV (satelite station) many times. You can find it on DVD here: Abinadi
Other projects include my homepage (which has got a fair number of sound files on it), choir music , and my holiday songbooks & CDs for families. I'm particularly proud of "Thirteen for Halloween."
I've earned degrees in Vocal Performance and Composition as well as performed in hundreds of choral, band, orchestral, operatic and music theatre productions.
