Alysha Conroy, Soprano

About Me

Light lyric coloratura soprano, Alysha Conroy just received her BFA in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Opera from the California Institute of the Arts. A transfer from Shenandoah Conservatory, a “traditional” education in classical music, she came to CalArts because she wanted to explore music without limitations. She had a very busy schooling experience participating in several chamber ensembles, recitals and an opera production every year; her roles include ‘Ninfa’ from L’Orfeo, ‘Soprano I’ in Attunement, 'Thomas' in A Night in a Pub, ‘Suor Genevieffa’ from Suor Angelica, ‘Habinnas’ from The Satyricon, and 'Jesus/God' in an dramatic chamber opera she co-wrote and produced called Walk With Me. Most recently, Alysha perfromed the role of 'Papagena' in Mozart's The Magic Flute in the OperaWorks Concert Opera Series. She was one of twenty young singers chosen to participate in the OperaWorks two-week intesive training program during one of it's most competitive years, and was accpeted to the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival during the same audition season, but finances forced her to choose. She happily attended OperaWorks, where she will had the priviledge to work with vocal coach, Lisa Sylvester and director, Ann Baltz as well as many other illustrious faculty members. She is now currently working as the Programs Administrator for the wonderful program as she supports it's nobel mission of training the Singer/Artist/Person as a whole.Lisa Sylvester worked with Ms. Conroy to record her pre-screening audition CD in November of 2007. She is delighted to announce that she will be attending CSUN in the Fall in pursuit of her Master of Music Degree.
