Music invents silence. - Octavio Paz

About Me

I'm a music major at Central Michigan University (studying composition and voice). I've been writing music for about 13 years - I started studying and composing music when I was 5 when my family acquired a piano. I've had premieres in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and I've won several awards for compositions.
Most recently, I received a place among seven winners of the third biennial Chanticleer Student Composer Competition, which means one movement from my choral work, "Three Celtic Blessings" will be premiered by Chanticleer during their 2006 or 2007 season, and the piece will have a chance to be published by Hinshaw Music.
Major premieres have included a performance of my orchestral work, "Papilio: The Butterfly" by the Andover Light Orchestra in Andover, UK under the direction of Kevin Riley ; and an international tour of my choral piece, "Open Your Eyes" performed by the Coldwater High School Cardinal Choir under the direction of Kelly Ford. I am also interested in film scoring, and am working on projects with Melissafan Productions , an independent short film production company.
My music is Published on SibeliusMusic.com, where it can be reviewed and purchased at My SibeliusMusic Homepage
Basically, I'm just here to meet and converse with other composers and people who enjoy music...

Mystery

Lets take a trip back through musical history. Last century we saw an explosion of styles and inventive forms, some intensely beautiful, some horrendously ugly. Today, Romanticism has prevailed, and a...

Cirrus isn't me!

I've noticed people seem to be commenting a lot on my "piano playing"...  I am assuming this is a result of the recording of Cirrus.   Cirrus is a piano duet that I wrote for a brillian...
