About Me

Stephanie Smith is an up and coming singer/songwriter who writes well above her 23 years. Razor-sharp lyrics, emotive melodies and stripped-down arrangements make "Waves" her most solid and soulful project yet. Stephanie describes her music as "hope-infused reality" -- songs that connect with, entertain and uplift the listener. "Waves" sold over 3,000 copies within the first two months of it's release (October 2006) and continues to spread as Stephanie plays in coffee shops, livingrooms and stages across the country. She has opened for many talented musicians including Dave Barnes, Raining Jane, Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband, and shared the stage with many great local acts in the last few years. Stephanie's music has been featured by Nokia, AOL and on the soundtrack for the independent film remake of "Pride and Prejudice" (Excel Entertainment). Please visit www.stephaniesmithmusic.com
"Working with Stephanie is a dream. She brings focused musical intensity to every take. She also brings a strong sense of musical identity to the studio, which I like to see in a recording artist. This project was a pleasure to work on." -- Producer Giles Reaves (Patty Griffin, Chantal Kreviazuk, Nichole Nordeman)
"I have been a fan of Stephanie Smith and her music for several years. There are so many aspiring artists and songwriters who place so much importance on capturing the flavor of the month in their music. In the end, what I often feel I get is a trendy collection of words, notes and beat and no soul. One of Stephanie's most appealing qualities is her authenticity and genuineness of spirit, and it shows in her music." -- Producer/Author Rick Clark (Los Super Seven, Death Cab for Cutie)

A plague upon my house

My apartment was full of crickets last week. Brown, chirping crickets. We have a foot of snow outside, so I really didn't expect my place to be invaded by these vagrant summer musicians of the insect ...
