Julie and Rachael- a former child star from Blackpool- met on a night out in Newcastle’s Big Market. They were the only two to be wearing coats and so quickly moved to London. There in 2005 they enlisted drummer Matt- who had been a teenage boy band heart throb in his native Devon. In 2006 - Last to be recruited was ex-Czech Ski champ Tony Kubik. The Sexy Kubik is days saving his hands for guitar, pint holding and the ladies.
The Koogas quickly received glowing reviews and were asked to support The Horrors, Story 1, Tom Vek, Babyshambles, The Alabama 3, Terry Hall, and My Luminaries. They went on to record with Pat Collier and Paul Tippler and Mark Ralph. They were thrilled to be invited to play Bestival 2006, Glastonbury 2005 and NXNE- Toronto which lead to Canadian album release. They have featured on compilations albums in the UK and Europe including the legendary Snakebite City.
After interest from several labels the Koogas finally decided to sign with an Independant. Things did not quite go to plan as is often the case in the world of the music industry- so the Koogas decided it was in there best interests to part company and move on. The Koogas have since been in the studio with Pat Collier recording new tracks.
The video to first single ‘Big Cliff’ has been directed by cool, up and coming director Karl Rooney and features The Koogas as you have never seen them before. It makes you want to get pissed laid and dance. Singer Julie's vocal's are so powerful they could easily blow you away. They're loud, they're raunchy and you just have to assume the lass must be wearing a PVC corset for most of the day.Koogaphone are on a mission, that's for sure.
