I'm currently drumming for an exciting new band project that I've recently set up. I'm also drumming for the excellent Dragonflies. Watch this space for gig news..I played drums for Bo Pepper for nearly a year and a half. In this time we played gigs at SXSW ’08 in Austin, Texas and In The City ’08 in Manchester including a live session and interview for BBC Manchester. We got extensive air-play on Radio 2, including getting voted a hit by Chris Evans drive time show and did an interview and live session for Janice Long on her Radio 2 show. We were featured on Something for the Weekend on BBC2, featured in The Sun showbiz section, Heat magazine, the Hitsheet, Record of the Day, The Austin Chronicle, Perez Hilton’s email blog, The London Paper showbiz section. We played loads of gigs in London (including some double drumming gigs with me and my identical twin brother Matt!!), including the Astoria 2, the Carling Academy Islington, the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, The Luminaire, Camden Barfly, University of Surrey in Guildford, Camden Dingwalls, the Apple Store etc.We were fortunate enough to support the likes of Pete Doherty, VV Brown, Sparks and Gabriella Cilmi.Bo Pepper performed gigs in front of countless notable music industry people including: Pete Doherty, The Feeling, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Goldierocks, Aaron Horn, Chris Potter (The Verve producer), Guy Chambers, Raye Cosbert (manager of Amy Winehouse), Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur producer), Jon McClure (frontman of Reverend and The Makers), Julian Deane (Toploader), Drew McConnell (Babyshambles), Greg Wells (Mika producer), Jamie Norton (top session keyboard player - Take That, McFly etc), Steve Lilliwhite (U2 producer), Gabriella Cilmi, Seymour Stein, Janice Long (Radio 2 presenter), Scouting for Girls. We recorded 3 tracks which I played drums on which were produced by Paul Stanborough at Sleeper Studios; I Haven’t Got You Anything (this Christmas), No One But Yourself To Blame and Steppin’ On My Toes.
All the songs are available to download from iTunes and the videos are on YouTube. We shot a brilliant HD video for the Christmas song, which got played on the Q music channel.
The band have now split up but it was an amazing time and we had a lot of laughs along the way!Over the years I've played drums for numerous bands including Sam & Mark (performed with them on Top of the Pops, twice on CD:UK, GMTV, Ministry of Mayhem, Top of the Pops Saturday and Popworld), The Outakes, Magic 8 (gigs & recording - check out www.myspace.com/magiceight and the track "Give Up" which I played drums on), Koogaphone (gigs), Soapbox Pirates (recording), My Remedy (gigs & recording).I'm a self taught player and have been drumming in bands (both in Devon and London) since I was 16; though when I was 20 decided to get some private lessons at Drumtech in west London. I've also studied with Steve Washington and Bob Armstrong.
In 2005 I was awarded a partial scholarship worth £1,000 sponsored by Roland at the Drum Institute.
Coincidentally my identical twin brother, Matt is also a drummer and plays with Koogaphone as well as The Outakes. For any drumming enquiries please email:
