Hi, my name is Luiz Lima. I was born and raised in Natal, Brazil. Since my early childhood, music has played a major, fundamental role in my life. I started playing the guitar at the age of eight, influenced by both Brazilian and British/American popular music, specially The Beatles. In my late teens I lived in the US for a couple of years, where I had a chance to attend a music college for some time. It was then that I started including Jazz among my musical interests. When I was 23, I dropped out Architectural School, making a definitive choice for music as my profession. Moved to Rio de Janeiro, played in several contexts, attended music courses privately (Sergio Benevenuto) and at the university (UniRio) and gave guitar lessons. In 1990, I took a trip to Rome and for what I take as "a reason of fate", I ended up living in Italy since then. It was here that my musical project got a clearer perspective, where I felt the need of a deeper identity which progressively led me to research on my home country's music culture and history. The Luiz Lima Br4tet (Br4), founded in Florence on October 2006, is the most specialized expression of that project so far.
