About Me
Nelson Machado was born in São Paulo (Brazil) and was musically educated at the conservatory Heitor Villa Lobos. Bachelor in guitar at the faculty of music São Judas Tadeu with Professor Giacomo Bartoloni, he also followed many diverse guitar courses with Professor Henrique Pinto at São Paulo and at Porto Alegre. He participated at the First Seminar of Instrumental Music at Ouro Preto (MG), organised by the guitarist Toninho Horta and held by Gilvam de Olivera, with whom he studied guitar and musical arrangements.
He played flamenco for many years with the Argentinian guitarist Julio Cesar Peralta, member of the group Raices de America, which has greatly influenced his music.
Since 1988 Nelson Machado has lived and worked in Italy where he followed a course of composition and specialization in guitar with Narciso Yepes of the Accademy Chigiana of Siena. He appeared in many Italian cities as well, and in France, Slovenia, Spain and Portugal where he represented popular Brazil music by proposing songs of its most famous composers like Noel Rosa, Pixinguinha, Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque de Hollanda, Djavan, Milton Nascimento, Edu L..bo etc...
He founded the vocal instrumental group Brasil Class with Silvia Donati, Maurizio De Gasperi, Monica Dardi and Barbara Giorgi. In its personal interpretation of the r..pertoire of Brazilian songs, the group was accompagned by soft percussions, guitar, flute and piano.
Released in 1995, his first album Illuminado has nine personal compositions as well as others signed by artists Gilberto Gil and Alceu Valen..a. Nelson Machado is accompagnied by musicians Roberto ..Red.. Rossi, Paolo Caruso, Maurizio Piancastelli, Andrea Taravelli, Enrico Guerzoni and by the American bassist Vonn Washington.
Nelson Machado also did the arrangements and participated as a guitarist and choirist in two albums realised by Franz Campi, a Bolognese singer with whom he composed the song ..Estrela.. (..Rose Rose.. in its Italian version). He has also participated in numerous recordings with many other Italian artists.
In 2004 Nelson Machado recorded at São Paolo his most recent album Brasiliano with the participation of songwriter L..o Nogueira as well as the artists Oswaldinho do Acordeon, Dino Barioni, Mario Carvalho, Daniel Alcântara and Vitor D'Alcântara. This same album has been mixed in Bologna where it has been realeased in February 2005.
Nelson Machado appears regularly with great success on the Blue Inn scene, one of the most well known night-clubs of Bologna, where he has been occasionally accompagnied by muscians of diverse musical background such as Jimmy Villotti, Barbara Casini, Teo Ciavarella, Giorgio Cavalli, Rosa Emilia and Joe Pisto.
He was recently included in the Dictionary Cravo Albin of the Brazilian Popular Music.
