ITS THE RHYTHM THAT MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE

About Me

For me, there are few things that I enjoy more than playing music. I compose, perform, and teach.
Drums and percussion are my main voice, but I also play piano, guitar and sing. I try to incorporate most styles of music some way, some how... Just as long as I can feel it, I'll jam it.
Currently I am studying percussion at York University where I am enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Jazz Performance program. I have studied under the great guidance of drummers' Barry Romberg, Anthony Michelli, Richard Greenspoon and Dave Patel (thanx Dave for being so patient!). I have played with a variety of Musicians and ensembles. Presently I am playing in The Break Down, Silo and Where's One? I also freelance and have the opportunity to play with some really talented musicians.
I teach both privately and at Cosmo School of Music. Additionally I compose for and perform on film soundtracks. As well, I accompany dance classes at York University where I also compose for dance choreographies.

Influences: John Bonham is my all time life long drumming hero. But... All of the great Jazz drummers: Elvin Jones, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Tony Williams, Roy Haynes, Jerry Fuller, Kenny Clarke, Ted Warren, Barry Elms, Jimmy Cobb, Terry Clarke, Jack Dejohnette and some more modern drummers like Steve Gadd, Tim Alexander, Bill Stewart, Barry Romberg, Josh Freese, Antonio Sanchez, Keith Carlock, Jerome Dillon, Future Man, And Oh yeah DANNY CAREY!!! (He is just some kind of freak), are also very important in shaping my style. I like Tool, Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Lorne Lofsky, Mike Stern, Primus, Joshua Redmon, Paul Chambers, Dizzy, Sonny Rollins, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Galactic, MMW, John Scofield, The Meters, Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Bela Fleck, Grant Green, Kitaro, Time Warp, Metalwood, Ian Froman is also a sweet drummer, oh and Trichi Sankaran, The Mars Volta, Rage Against The Machine, A Perfect Circle and too much mroe to keep on going. I like Latin/Jazz, some Trance, Latin, House music, punk like NOFX, Greenday, The Offspring, All the classical composers are so heavy, gotta love Bach, Schuman, Schoneberg, Chopin, Berlioz, Berg, Hayden, Mozart, Nino Rota, Opeth is heavy, and really anything thats got a good groove or has some heart put into it... even if it is cheesy, feeling and emotion can take a song a long way. Remeber... if a song can make you puke thats powerful shit!

MOVIES: Donny Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind, American Beauty, The Prestige, Idocracy, Micheal Moore films, Quintin's movies rock: True Romance and Kill Bill because i'm a big sucker for kung fu and ninja movies (and yes i still watch Kung Fu the Legend Continues), The Princess Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Johnny Depp Movies also rock!!! Funny movies are really great and i love so many more.

FAVORITE BOOKS: Journey to Ixtlan! Carlos Castaneda is an awesome writer, and I think he might be my favorite author at the moment... Read Journey to Ixtlan!!! I hadn't picked up a book willingly in 4 year until Ixtlan, and I finished it in 4 days. It also inspired me to read the other 8 Novels, well I'm still working on the last two.
