Torontos Best Soul Jazz (But Only By Default)

About Me

At the age of twenty three, Dan McKinnon is on his way to making a reputation in Canadian Jazz. Not only has he laid down the groundwork for a unique style and sound, but has also played throughout the world including New York City, Los Angeles and Italy to name a few. For the past four years, Dan has been studying at York University with some of the top names in Canadian Jazz, including Mike Murley, Lorne Lofsky, Barry Elmes and Mark Eisenman. However, Dans studies have gone past the classroom into participating in top performance programs held by the Berklee College of Music where Dan performed in the Berklee Student All Star Big Band at the Umbria Jazz Festival in the summer of 2005, as and the NYU Summer Guitar Sessions during the summer of 2006 in New York City. It was in this period of time where Dan studied with artists that have achieved critical acclaim throughout the world such as Steve Khan, Mimi Fox, Pete McCann and Leni Stern amongst many others. Recently, Dan received his BFA from York University and is now on the verge of making a name for himself while living in Toronto, Ontario.
