In 2002 Juan David travels to Germany as guitarist of“Latin Sampling”, to take part in the Internation Festival “Jugend Jazzt”. After receiving the first price in this festival, the young guitar player decides to settle down in Germany, country in which they still reside. Their latest production “Secrets” was released in the European market under the label of ALLÁ www.musicadealla.com in November of 2006.
Parallel to the work in the band, Juan David is currently studying Jazz Guitar at the “Cologne University of Music” under the tutelage of Frank Haunschild. He has also had the pleasure to take lessons with various artists such as Kenny Wessel, Steve Khan, Steve Cardenas, Brad Shepik, Bruce Arnold (Prof. at Berklee and London Conservatorium), Tony Moreno and Mimi Fox at the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University.
This young guitarist has been able to earn the respect and recognition of colleagues and critics both in Colombia and Europe. He is endorsed by Yamaha Guitars and Yamaha Amps. He has a long list of live experience with his band Latin Sampling and as sideman for MuHo Bigband, LAJAZZO Big Band, Senait Mehari (Universal Artist), Special Guest Band, Conexión Latina (enja records Artist), Luciano di Natale(italia), Tomas & sus quijotes, Inusa Dawuda, Locos por Juana (Latin Grammy 2005), Wolfgang Niedecken(BAP).
Juan David has been on stage in the USA, Colombia, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Estonia, Germany, Irland, Qatar, Denmark and at several renown festivals such as Ruhr Klavier Festival, Salzburger Jazz Herbst (Vienna), FesuJazz, Mar Caribe Jazz, Hamburg Jazz Open, Ostsee Jazz festival in Rostock, Rock al Parque (Barranquilla), and many others.
