About Me

Our Bio!
Band members from Canary Mine have been together in various projects for a whole decade. It was in 2004 that they officially became Canary Mine. James Lanbro asked Carl Welch and Mim Adams to help him out with a demo recording. Joe Arnup quickly joined the project and the demo turned into Canary Mine's first album and a cross-Canada tour.
Three annual tours across Western Canada saw the band playing at family festivals, downtown clubs and seedy oil mining booze camps.
Since Carl became a father to triplets, the Miners have slowed down their gigs and touring. Though they're playing fewer shows, they're still delivering the full CM experience.
Some favourite shows include the City of Waterloo's 150th birthday celebration last summer, for an audience of about 600 people, and the Northwood Inn near Algonquin Park. It was filled with dancing rural artisans who loved to hear CM's original songs.
Canary Mine can be described as folk-hop, being a humourous mix of folk, rock, country and hip-hop. Their tracks have been played numerous times on CBC Radio One, and they’ve charted on the community and college radio stations across many provinces.
They met each other in Hamilton, though they have emigrated to Toronto. Carl is from London, Mim from Keswick, James from Kitchener-Waterloo and Joe is from Haliburton.
They recently enjoyed some success selling two songs to the Hollywood Comedy “Weirdsville”, which was directed by Allan Moyle, of Pump Up The Volume and Empire Records fame.
In December 2007 they released their first holiday season album at their 4th Annual Xtraordinary Xmas Xtravaganza in Toronto. They continue rehearsing and songwriting towards their next album, expected in early 2009.
