With an arsenal of epic songs, tireless stage shows, and violently loyal fans, The Short & Curlies are becoming a staple on the Canadian scene. Formed in 2005, songwriters Zach Bines and Mike Tobin initially began writing children's music. They quickly realized that their songs were not just for kids. Ignoring the stereotypical route of an indie band, The Short & Curlies stood out in the toronto scene, performing their irregular musical bonanza, while sharing the bill with straight-ahead rock bands. Onlookers were dumbfounded...So two years have passed, and the unconventional duo continue to create songs that are eagerly embraced by their listeners. Catchy melodies, relatable content and the band's ability to "play a mood" are all trademarks of their repertoire. Though they began as an acoustic duo, The Curlies are now joined by Jon Butash (bass), Stevie Poloni (guitar), and Ben Weigensberg (drums) for a full on, balls out, rock spectacle. Their live show takes you on a rollercoaster ride filled with unstoppable energy, hard beats, and curiously impressive harmonies. As for their sound, The Short & Curlies have often been described as a Frank Zappa-Beastie Boys love child, stirring up a fresh recipe for the modern rock song. With countless shows on their belt and and their debut album, "MamaBirds" in post-production, there is no stopping The Short & Curlies!
