About Me

Let there be bass!
David Aaron Carter's big goal nowadays is to get out and play as much as possible, and work out a couple kinks in his intonation while he's at it. A multi-faceted musician, his upright and electric bass playing combines elements of swing, hip hop, fusion, R&B, and gospel. His playing is complemented by a penchent for writing and arranging new tunes for the great musicians he's privilidged to play with on a day-to-day basis. Self-taught by nature, Carter hasn't forgotten to let his surroundings nurture his playing. Under the passing tutelage of Canadian greats like Kelly Jefferson, Chase Sanborn, and Archie Alleyne, he's definately picked up a few things along the way.
Currently, Carter's big projects are R&B rooted fusion group Four After Dark (Kevin Cato - SA, Matteo Parente - G) and traditional trio A Two and Two Firsts (Kevin Cato - SA, Cal May - G). He's also been playing with the three lovely ladies Courtney Quebec (PN), Lauren Barnette (SA), and Steph Peirce (VO) in the Lau Blau Trio and Carter Quebec Peirce, and in a folk-rock duo with the darling Viki Pazzano (VO/PR).
David Aaron Carter has also been making a mark lately as a producer, carting around a laundry basket full of recording gear to capture some very cool live music moments. He now runs the indie label Stepwise Records along with his brother-in-arms-and-by-blood, Mark Carter.
