Moss & Jo met at the tender age of 8. At the time they were polar opposites, Moss the beautiful dancing pop princess with liberal roots, Jo the cynical Londoner & classical cellist raised by a stern grandmother. Over time they grew more alike, taking little bits from each other and from their surrounding worlds. They saw the transition from childhood, through the turbulent teenage days into early adulthood. Jo spent every waking hour playing the cello, finding ways of incorporating it into every genre possible, and Moss sent herself to the extremes of existence through experimental theatre and movement.Jo met the Queen, Moss bumped into God. They travelled the world together and apart, furthering their skills in music, dance, theatre and love, and finally came back together with a vow of commitment (to each other and to the quest of making music from the heart) early in 2003. Since then they have played to many a folk, getting themselves in all manner of troubles
In 2006 they started on the long and winding road to making a record that would do all their hard work justice. This is where you find them now, juggling day jobs a plenty, playing as many nights as are free and striving to find a route that maintains independence of their music and artistic direction. Their live performances go from strength to strength and you can’t help but be touched by the intimacy of their music in a world that is increasingly fickle and manufactured.
Come and see them play.... you might even be in for a treat in the form of wonderful drummer Patrick Davey who will get you grooving all the way to the center of your bones. They have been described as all of the following: Free Folk, Acoustic Funk, Experimental Melodic Philosophical Mystical Duet , using voices, guitar, carbon fibre cello and drums in various combinations
To collaborate with Moss & Jo, please contact them through the same means, they are always eager to extend their creative family and embrace whatever skills or experiences you can bring to the table.
