After playing cello for a very very long time I have been lucky enough to be involved in projects ranging over all genres of music. With a degree in Classical Performance I have been kept busy doing solo recitals, orchestral work, recording, arranging and guest appearances with some of the most fantastic artists and musicians. Recent highlights include a a years touring of the UK, Europe, and the USA withThe Unthanks formerly Rachel Unthank and The Winterset. Recording the new album ALMANAC with Emily Barker & the Red Clay Halo. Finishing an album with the ridiculously talented Pepe Belmonte. Jools Holland, BBC Radio 4 Womans Hour BBC Radio 1 and Radio 3 sessions and BBC Radio 6 sessions. Writing the music for a short film funded by the British Film Council called Bale and continuing to work with all the bands listed below.Release of Ian M.Hale Debut Album..... Successor. Late May 2010. Release of Pepe Belmonte Debut Album. Date TBC.

My last few years have taken me to all over the world. I have played on tours featuring alongside of Akli D on the African Soul Rebels Tour and being the honoured guest of Allen Toussaint on his solo UK tour. Dom Coyote and Other Stories EP
I have played/ recorded/ appeared with: Allen Toussaint, The Unthanks, Keane, Theoretical Girl, Sam Beer, Pepe Belmonte, Dubkasm, Emily Barker and The Red Clay Halo, Pete Roe. I play electric and acoustic cello and I now have the sexiest cello known to man- the carbon fibre beauty.
