DUBCATS lockdown
DUBCATS were born out of DUB HONEY'S & FOXY'S love of dub/reggae. They came together after a jam session when guitar legend PAUL FOX (formerly of THE RUTS) realized the potential in DUB HONEY'S hypnotic, mesmeric bass lines. They were joined by PHATS and TOM MASSEY on guitar. RUDI (who also plays with MAX ROMEO & MAD PROFESSOR) plays keyboard in a much sought after style of his own. SMILING ROOTS also adds his own influence. LADY FLAME & LOCKSMAN provide incredible vocal hooks with a strong, spiritual message of peace, love & harmony whilst also making us aware of the influences that try to distract us. GEMSTONE adds her own beautiful voice to the vocals.
Finally, they were joined by BAMPY, an accomplished drummer with a unique style who worked with PAUL FOX nearly 30 years ago when he played with MISTY IN ROOTS.
Both MISTY IN ROOTS and THE RUTS became a major force in ROCK AGAINST RACISM and developed a very strong cross over audience.
Who would have known that the spirit would bring BAMPY full circle to a band that PAUL FOX put together in his last days? The DUBCATS album, due to be released soon displays a merging of style and culture and is sadly the last works of the never-to-be-forgotten PAUL FOX. Guest artists include: MAFIA & FLUXY, U BROWN, FIRE ELEMENT, RICHIE RICH & BARITONE JOHN of BAD MANNERS & NATTY RAG. Their music is being mixed by various producers including MAD PROFESSOR, DENNIS BOVELL, CALVIN, DR DUB & more.
For upcoming shows they have now been joined by live sound engineer PREACHER who has nearly 30 years experience in the reggae industry dubbing up many artists such as MAX ROMEO & JOHN HOLT.
