NEW VIDEO - FREEDOM FIGHTAZ (Taken from FIRED UP)
NEW ALBUM : --FIRED UP--
It's a healthy mix of driving drum n bass and breakbeat from producer DJ FeelFree with Damion continuing to bring rootsy, soulful, powerful vocals with conscious lyrics to complement. The debut album “Keep The Grime On†saw many guest collaborations but new album “Fired Up†reverts to a more traditional format featuring mainly only band members. Duane Flames brings a UK hip hop vibe with his delightful and prominent flows, Dr Das once again has contributed his dub bass mightiness throughout this album and also we are honoured to be joined by Yap (Pink Punk) for "The Message".
FORMED IN 2001 BY DJ FEELFREE AND VJ COCO AND CREATED TO BE AN AUDIOVISUAL DANCE BAND THAT WOULD PROVIDE FRESH, FUNKY, ROLLING BREAKBEATS, WITH VIBRANT VISUALS TO MATCH.
VU are a London based technology driven dance band/soundsystem founded by DJ FeelFree and VJ Coco. Our sound is a fusion of drum n bass, breakbeat, hip hop, dub, ragga, roots and asian vibes alongside live interactive visuals. Alongside this we present Damion with the soulful yet gritty vocals and rappa Duane Flames bringing a UK underground hip hop vibe... Also joining us for studio as well as the live shows is special guest Dr Das (original founder member and formerly of Asian Dub Foundation) on bass.
Prior to the release of Keep The Grime On, VU Recordings have released four 12 vinyl singles and one CD single. Feeling Good, Urban Uproar, Countries @ War, and Eye of the Storm, have all been well received by the underground club market especially Eye Of The Storm which was picked up by MTVs Party Hard Also Militant 24-7 taken from KTGO was chosen as TV title music for BBC 2s Asian arts and culture programme; Desi DNA, whilst a selection of VU tracks have also seen their way onto a variety of compilation albums including FabricLive15 and Peace Not War Vol II.
Emergency Basslines : Dr Das's first album since leaving ADF was released on VU Recordings Nov 2006
Reflecting Visionary Undergrounds independent nature, VU Recordings was created to overcome the lethargy and lack of opportunity in the music industry. "When no-one gives you an opportunity you have to make your own..."
A sign of the times, VU have embraced Internet technology and acknowledge it as a powerful tool that can help you reach people all over the world. Since our conception we have always given away many mp3 downloads from the VU site. "Its a good way of introducing people to our sound and also gives something back to all those that have been supporting us."
Over the past five years VU have worked with and remixed for a host of artists including:
Asian Dub Foundation, Nitin Sawhney, Aref Durvesh (Tabla Maestro), Chandru (bollywoodstrings.com), Pandit Dinesh (Tabla and percussion guru), MC Navigator (of Freestylers fame) & Sonia Mehta (Indian vocalist).
2007/08 sees VU's live show joined once again by special guest Dr Das (Original founder member and formerly of Asian Dub Foundation) on bass.
