About Me

I don't play in band. I used to but we split for artistic differences. I thought I was artistic and they thought I was crap. You don't get a much bigger difference than that!I have been playing, singing and writing for more years than I care to remember. Around ten years ago I finally got round to actually playing in front of someone else. Since then, it has been a fairly enjoyable musical journey. I have been fortunate enough to meet some really good people and I am always mightily impressed with the talent that some folk have. For a while most of my writing (poems and songs) was in the Doric of North East Scotland which is an incredibly rich language or dialect depending on which side of the fence you sit. About seven years ago I got the opportunity to record some of this material. Gavin Sutherland and Jim Hunter at the Aden Park Studio were great in bringing my songs into the digital era. This wee project saw the album 'Fae Croft To Creel' appear. While not threatening the record sales of Robbie Williams or the Stones, I was really happy with the response this album received. As far as hardware goes, I currently play a Moon RD3 dreadnaught which is a superb guitar. I also have a Martin, Takemine and Epiphone Masterbuilt accoustics. For toys I have an Epiphone Les Paul and a Pacifica electric guitars which I use to regress to my head banging, teenage days. I occasionally play the mandola and mandolin and have been known to give the moothie a blast. Finally, I have two violins which, much as I would like to say that I can play, the truth is that I am not very good with them. Nowadays I find most of my writing is done in plain English, if there is such a thing. It was my intention to go into the studio early last year and record some new material. Unfortunately for one reason or another that didn't happen. But the songs are still there so ..........one day. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------
