Aberdeen Folk Club

About Me

Aberdeen Folk Club is one of the longest running clubs in Scotland. Founded in 1962, and through good times and bad, still going strong. After a few lean years, the club is now showing signs of a revival in our new meeting place, The Blue Lamp, on Aberdeen's historic, Gallowgate. We meet each Wednesday, at 8.30pm, and feature a mixture of guest evenings and informal sessions. The guest evenings usually feature a visiting professional artist, like recent guest, Archie Fisher. The ever popular informal sessions are now going from strength to strength, with an encouraging mix of the age groups. It's good to see so many younger performers getting involved. If you are interested, then please don't hesitate to come along. There is free admission to the informal sessions. You can sing, play an instrument, or just sit, have a quiet drink and enjoy the night. Peforming is NOT compulsory. A reasonable cover charge is made for the guest evenings to pay the artist's fee.
