Hola, Ciao, Bienvenue, Wilkommen, Deep Joy!

About Me

Welcome to Hotel Caledonia, 2008, the space where I hang out, eat Fair Trade bananas and do cool stuff with my space friends. . . .
New album seems to be going down rather well with all you cool and groovy people. Thanks for all the the lovely messages!
DOWNLOAD THE DEAL, NOW!! . . . click HERE and follow the link to www.inzu.net/themarket.
New album, THE DEAL At last it's all done and ready to go. Where did it come from? Where will it go? And what happens now? Maybe I should take the dog for a walk? What dog? I haven't got a dog! Maybe I should take someone else's dog for a walk? There are ten new tunes on the album. My last album was totally acoustic, this one involves much more electrickery (thanks Emil) and even a little bit of good old toe-tappery. I produced the record with the wickedly groovy assistance of James "The Hitman" Hunter.
Green Matters: In an effort to minimize the use of precious earthly resources the album will be available primarily by download. Hard copy will be available in limited edition home-made recycled cardboard sleeves, each one stamped and signed. I'll let you know when that's all sorted out!
You'll find my last album, Diamonds and Gold at amazon and CD Baby . Years of fun for everyone! It's also downloadable from iTunes. There's another Gavin Sutherland out there, a very clever man who conducts orchestras and stuff like that. For obvious reasons our cyberpaths cross from time to time so just mind how you go.
Digging for Victory!
Busy in the garden right now, planning a new vegetable plot. We have to make a move, the tipping point is upon us, yes, it's Transition Time!! Check out www.transitiontowns.org, there's light at the end of the polytunnel but we got to get serious about this right now! Maybe we can do something?
NB. Our man in Swansea reckons it's too late, the tipping point was reached at least five years ago, so we might as well chill out and enjoy what's left of the ride.
Bandography:
My musical madness kicked off in 1967 when I left school to join big brother's band, A New Generation. Then came The Sutherland Brothers Band, Sutherland Brothers and Quiver (a decade of gigs, recording studios, hotels, gigs and more recording studios, hotels and gigs) and then numerous wee bands including The Rockets, Private Dicks and The Red Sierras. Oh, yeah, and I've done a couple of solo albums, one for Moonshine Records (Holland) and one for Corazong Records (Holland). The Dutch have impeccable taste. I have a passion / addiction for writing and recording songs and music and look after a small (but beautiful) studio in North East Scotland.
Breaking News. . .
Just spent a wonderful couple of days in the studio on a production mission with the dangerously brilliant "Isla String Quartet." A better band of musicians and a lovelier bunch of lasses you couldn't wish to wish for. Philippa Mo, violin, Emily White, violin, Rebecca Rees, cello and Rachel Robson on the viola. Awesome! More about the project etc. when I know more about the project etc.
THIS WEEK'S TOP LISTEN:
Pet Sounds. Brian and the Boys, bless 'em all! Does it get any better?
Sans Peur
PS Check out Tim Renwick's fab album, Privateer
