Temple Bar Trad Festival

About Me

Temple Bar Trad is all about the music. Each year, we try and bring some of Ireland's top traditional musicians (and sometimes a few friends from overseas as well!) to play during the festival weekend. Temple Bar Trad Fest 2009 will give you many concerts, pipebands, craft market, workshops to guarantee a memorable festival!
Temple Bar Trad is Dublin's premier celebration of traditional music and culture. It’s hard to believe that the Temple Bar TradFest began only 4 short years ago, Dublin had lacked a traditional music festival for almost twenty years! Since its inaugural year it has grown into one of the most anticipated events on the festival calendar. The festival has quite literally captured the heart of the city centre and found a home in the cultural playground that is Temple Bar. Organised as a non-profit venture by TASCQ, the traders’ group in Temple Bar, the festival aims to present top quality traditional music to both a domestic and international audience. With the addition of this year’s family programme, the festival has truly become an event that people can enjoy regardless of age or nationality. The 2009 festival is poised to become the biggest and best to date, with a programme that continues to grow in size and diversity the festival has had great success in opening up the world of traditional music to new audiences. Patrons of the festival have included acting powerhouses such as Stephen Rhea and Brendan Gleeson. With such endorsements behind it the festival just goes from strength to strength and as far as the organisers are concerned, the sky is the limit to what can be achieved with TradFest.
