About Me

"This is a brilliant band just starting to break onto the Festival circuit. Exciting and incredibly musical." - Andy Knight (Bideford Folk Fest Organizer)

They are a band with 'attitude', fronted by Steve Ruffe The Wild Man of Folk who - as well as writing great songs that get audiences singing - is on lead vocals and plays guitar, harmonica and percussion.

Chloe Watson is a an amazing folk fiddler; her classical training gives her a freedom and edge that keep her afloat above the wild things that go on around her.

She is also developing into a talented singer with an amazing delivery that always adds something new to the songs she sings.Baz's musicianship has developed into a wonderfully vibrant percussive and innovative art form. Born from the infuriating tapping on his mother's kitchen table, his playing provides the essential focus of the bands rhythmic pulse. They've started to let him sing and unleashed a banshee; watch out for 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia'Mick 'The Horse' Pledge has recently joined us. Multi talented as Bass player, guitar, and cheeky monkey, he's now taken the total of real musicians in the band up to 2!!Les 'Lifeboat' Hansen moves on... click to read moreA great live act, The Dambuskers will soon be taking to the studio to try to capture the magic for us all, and we'll be watching them closely as they take on the festivals following their successes this year at:Brampton Live 2006Bideford Folk FestivalWest Somerset Folk FestivalTeignmouth Folk FestivalGoldcoast Oceanfest 2007Potwalloping Festival

Influences:

The Levellers - The Pogues
The Waterboys - Led Zeppelin
Neil Young - Dylan - The Who
To name but a few!

Perhaps our biggest influences have been the wealth of local musicians and songwriters here in North Devon! Traditional English, Irish, & Scottish songs and tunes keep us jigging about, and the old shanties and ballads remain the backbone of our direction and inspiration!...As if one band was not enough, Chloe and Baz play in a duo as Fiddlebix, and Steve and Mick also gig as The Bedlam Boys. Follow these links for more on the secret lives of the Dambuskers!!.....

What we love is a good session, or a bit of busking washed down with a pint of good ale... "...We all come here,
To relax and have a few,
But the most important thing, my friends
Is being here with you.
And we all meet here,
On life’s road we walk upon.
So breath in the vibes
And return it with a song..."

From the song ’Breath The Vibes’ by The Dambuskers.
