THE SOUND OF THE MOORS

About Me

First, last and always a live band.Formed by drummer SIMON FOXLEY -"Before I moved to Devon I lost pretty much everything that mattered to me, but after a few years I got back on my feet. I felt strongly that I wanted to put something back. So after striking up a frienship with Ant Cryst we decided to form a band to raise money for local causes. It was never intended to be taken seriously but was an expression of my gratitude to the people who work so hard to help others, often without financial gain or recognition. Originally we would play poor versions of old punk songs but after seeing The Dambuskers play Ilfracombe we knew what sound we wanted, a West Country sound with a difference, mixing traditional folk with my punk roots. This is the sound we crafted".The band is Ant Cryst on guitar/vocals, Graham Banford on bass, Foxy on drums, Dave Webb on fiddle, Leah Huxtable on mandolin and Danni Richards on whistle/Vocals. Saving Faith purely raise money for local charities and they dont charge to play.ANT CRYST - "There is so much talent in Devon at the moment its terrifying trying to support some of them. I'd love to support Kitty + The Lost Boys, Chris Millington and Amy Newton. Could you imagine us supporting The Dambuskers? It would be one helluva gig".GRAHAM BANFORD - " We should be ready for the Cornish/Devon festivals next year when we have a longer set list. At the moment we are writing our own material and have a hand full of songs finished. The rest is covers. We hope to change that over the next few months, until the set comprises of mainly our own stuff. We'll still throw in the odd cover to wake the audience up".DANNI RICHARDS - "We've been told we have potential. I hope we can realise it. Our music is really starting to develop. It's early doors but we're getting stronger and stronger. I think we are one of the most exciting live bands around at the moment, and I'm not just saying that. We put on a fantastic show. So intense".DAVE WEBB - "We're getting away from being just another punk covers band and there is more creativity creeping in to our music. The gigs are getting bigger. From playing to a couple of farmers and their collies we packed our last couple of gigs at Woods and the Fox's Teaparty. They were jammed to the rafters and sold out on advance tickets. We are now getting regular offers to play bigger local venues and even offers of supporting some of our heroes. Hopefully once we are a little more polished we can take up those offers and move our sound to pastures new".LEAH HUXTABLE - "I can't wait to play more gigs. Someone suggested we play New York and Boston. That amused us. I think we need to conquer Ilfracombe first. We could be ready for The Marlboro Club and The Aggi later this year. That would be a huge milestone for us and a great achievement.".The Faiths music is best described as traditional Celtic/West Country rock with a twist. "If it didnt have a fiddle, a whistle and a mandolin it would be a nod to The Clash. If it didnt have the guitar, bass and drums it would be traditional West Country folk". With an ever growing number of band members ranging in age from their thirties to their fifties, the Faiths bring a diverse range of influences to their sound.PUNCH DRUNK, ROWDY DEVON COUNTRY ROCK!
