FOS Brothers

About Me

The FOS Brothers are Dave and Sam McCrory from East Belfast, N.Ireland, joined by Rom Dobbs an innovative drummer/percussionist from the South West of England. Together they create a unique soundscape of acoustic music heavily influenced by their Irish roots. They Have been performing for over 12 years at Festivals, Arts Centres..... all sorts of venues in the UK and abroad
A stirring fusion of original and traditional songs on hypnotic acoustic guitars to 21st century dance grooves. (Steve Knightley – Show of Hands)
What FOS Brothers achieve in their performance is something which not many bands labelled under ‘roots’ manage – an eclectic diversity of Irish Folk, world influences and song-smithery (Tim Boxer - Kentisbeare Music Festival)
The FOS Brothers are two Ulstermen (brothers, indeed) and an Englishman (no, this is not the start of a joke...), who have been preaching the gospel of the new Roots music for a decade, with no sign of any loss of vigour or vitality. Regular favourites around the European festival scene, and nowhere more so than here at Pontardawe. The band was actually born in Oxford, moved to Leeds where McCrory, D. learned the art of guitar-making, and is now based in Devon. Twin acoustic guitars, mandolin and powerful vocals set in an ambient back drop of drums and percussion, Sam McCrory's voice shines through Dave McCrory's arrangements of an unusual collection of self-penned, traditional and cover songs. Not many other bands will give you an Irish ballad followed by a Frank Zappa cover. (David Hammond-Williams - Pontardawe Festival 2008)
