I can’t say that I know what life would be like if I didn’t sing. Music is so deep in me- it’s who I am. I spend most of my time humming a melody and I love nothing more then being onstage. I am the middle child of five kids and found my attention early-on through singing. My mom actually claims that I sang before I talked... I might need footage to believe that one! jk : ) I will never forget singing "Over The Rainbow" at my great-grandmother’s funeral when I was 5 years old. It was first time I ever sang for a large, live audience. I was always putting on shows for my family so I feel like I have been performing my whole life.
I am 22 years old, pursuing my career as a singer/songwriter in Nashville. Country music has always been rooted very deeply in me. I come from a farming family in Ventura, CA and vividly remember driving with my dad in his truck one day when one of his favorites, "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, came on the radio. I learned it right away and he snuck me into a karaoke bar in the Salinas Valley town of Gonzales where I won the grand prize. That was just the start or my under-age singing experiences in clubs!
Growing up I sang everywhere I could from church, to school, to musical theater and the list goes on. When I was 14, I got my first professional job singing "Part of Your World" for Disney’s Little Mermaid II. At 16, I met David Foster and have been singing "I Will Always Love You" and "God Bless America" for him at his shows ever since. In ’04, I got to star in Panasonic’s "Ideas Ahead" music video. In ’05, I opened for one of my favorite country artists with my own original material, Deana Carter. My two years in college, I spent most of my time writing lyrics in notebooks and running around town singing demoes for people, including Diane Warren. This was my education!
When I visited Nashville on a writing trip, I knew this was where I had to be. A couple months later, I packed up my car and drove across the country to make the move not really knowing a single person. However, I have always challenged myself to take chances at what I love doing. I couldn’t be happier here! I am creating the artist I want to be, working with amazing people, making music that I love, singing demo’s for many writers, working really hard, and learning more everyday to believe in myself......
