Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting
The name "Dedicated Publications Services" for my new in-home desk-top publishing business, came out of my profile name for my other myspace page "Dedicated To Christ," which is about my faith. I have become known to so many friends here as "Dedicated" that I thought I would just carry that over to this site and use it for my business.
I am not a book publisher and did not realize there would be some confusion on that point when I chose my business name. I am mostly looking for a few light projects that I can do out of my home, because I have several health problems that require me to pace myself. I would most like to find a magazine for which I can write articles on a regular basis. And like every writer, I would like to write books someday. But right now I just want to earn a little extra money to help pay bills.
I have done desk-top publishing off and on over the past 20+ years so that I could work out of my home while raising my kids. My projects have included brochures, pamphlets, website copy, press releases, and manuscript editing and preparation. I have worked for small community newspapers, political candidates, small businesses, and churches and ministries.

DEDICATED PUBLICATIONS SERVICES
My resume, references and portfolio are available upon request. ***Articles/columns for newspapers and magazines***
Most of my experience is with newspaper features, but I really want to do more magazine writing. I have a few pieces pending with some webzines right now. I have strong interviewing skills and believe everyone has a story. It is up to the interviewer to FIND that story. I am posting several of my favorite newspaper pieces on my blog. I also have some personal experience and devotional blogs on my faith page that reflect my writing style for those type articles.
***Newsletters***
I have produced several print newsletters in my home for organizations, churches, political candidates, etc. I have never done a web newsletter, but I am researching how to do that and would love to have an opportunity to try one. So I will give a good rate to make up for my lack of experience. I am currently doing a quarterly print newsletter for a medical lab in Dallas, TX.
***Manuscript Preparation - Copyediting/Proofreading/Layout***
I have prepared one full-length book and a few booklets. These were for individuals and businesses who were self-publishing.
***Press Releases/Press Kit Creation***
I have written many, many press releases for churches, organizations, political candidates, and businesses. A sample press release is on my blog.
***Webpage copy/editing***
I helped to write and edit copy for www.illusionministry.com for professional illusionist Bruce Chadwick, if you want to see a sample of my work. I also put up two myspace pages for him, which are on my top friends.
***Brochure Copy/Layout***
I have written brochures for churches and political candidates.
***Postcards/mailers/door hangers***
I Have done many of these for organizations and political candidates.
***Advertising Copy/Copyediting***
I am not really an artist, but have access to a couple of very talented individuals. I am also learning how to do some artwork and photo preparation on the computer. I have some experience with photography.
***Research***
I love research!!!
FEES
While I am interested in submitting articles, columns, literary pieces, etc., to magazines and newspapers on speculation, I work on a fee basis for all desk-top publishing projects. I am not interested in any projects for which I would have to invest capital, work on commission, or share in royalties only after publication.
A book that I have found invaluable is The Writer's Market Companion by Joe Feiertag, Mary Carmen Cuito and the Editors of Writer's Market. I have the 2000, edition. (I guess I should really update and get the newest one.) On pages 356-328 is a list of sample fees that represent the range of prices charged by freelance writers across America. I usually refer to this as a guideline when setting my fees. However, I always take the scope of the project into consideration when setting a fee.
