I am here for Friends

About Me

My name is Candy, to the world I am no one.
To God, I am Whosoever.
i am a child of God. i am a follower, servant, ambassador and lover of Jesus Christ. i am a very imperfect person, a sinner saved only by the grace of God. i don’t always say or do the “right” thing. i don’t always have the “right” words. i don’t always display the “right” behavior. Nothing about me is always “right”. i don’t have all the wisdom, i don’t have all the knowledge and i don’t understand everything – nor will i ever. Despite all of my faults and flaws, God loves me anyway. i desire for people to always see Jesus in me but i know that i so often fail in this area. i fall short more often than not but God (and only God) knows my true heart.
Nothing “about me” really matters at all. The only one that REALLY matters is Jesus Christ! He is my Lord, my Savior, and my Friend. He died to save my soul from eternal damnation. i can do nothing without Him. i am nothing without Him. He loves me and i love Him. He loves you also!!! He loves you just as much as He loves me and because He loves me is the only reason i am alive today. i am a spirit that has a soul that lives temporarily in this body while on this earth. My permanent home is in Heaven. i am not, nor will i ever be perfect, but i will continue to strive to be more like Jesus every day that i live on this earth. i mess up a LOT! i’ve been a total mess most of my life and i still am a mess in many areas but i’m not as messy as i was yesterday and tomorrow i won’t be as messy as i am today. (Thank you, Jesus!) What matters the most about who i am is WHOSE i am.
Now, for those of you who want to know more “about me” ~ those things that make me “candy” and the things that distinguish me from others ~
My real name is Candy Gale. I live in a small southern town in rural Mississippi. I have been married to my wonderful husband for nearly 23 years; we have no children. I live with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law and our four lovely Havanese dogs that God has blessed us to take care of. My dog, MerMer, is blind and i believe that God allowed this to happen to show me a multitude of things that i needed to learn. MerMer has a fantastic attitude, despite being blind and loosing his ability to do some of his favorite things – like run in the yard and play with the others, etc. In spite of all the things MerMer can no longer do (or see) and despite all the medicines he has to take he still has the most positive attitude and he doesn’t let those unfortunate things hamper his love for life. i truly have learned a lot from this little dog. Yes, that sounds strange, but it’s true.
My husband works five hours from us now (at ULL in Lafayette, LA). He comes home on weekends when he can and i miss him a lot. He is planning to find a house there so i can be with him and the entire family can all visit back and forth. We will not be leaving Mississippi permanently for this is our home while on this earth; we will just have two homes and spent time at both places. He will be home for the summer and i am looking forward to having him here.
i have three much older siblings and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and they all live within an hour of us here and my mom, who is 86 years old, lives 12 miles from me and i love her with all my heart. She’s a wonderful woman and she lives the Lord so much. i am very blessed!
i love people, i love nature, i love animals and am constantly amazed at all the magnificent things God has created here on this earth. i can see His hand and His love in every single blade of grass that grows, in every cloud in the sky, in every grain of sand on the shore of the oceans. i seem to notice the small things in life the most for they are actually the biggest blessings of all.
i REALLY love the ocean and the beach. i love feeling the breeze blowing and the sand between my toes and the sun shining on my face. i also love the thunderstorms, especially when God stirs the water. i love the smell and the color of the ocean and the feel of the water on my body.
For me, the beauty that our Heavenly Father has given us is beyond words. i can see His work in the smallest, most insignificant things to the vast mighty oceans that cover the majority of this earth. When i am sitting on a quiet shoreline of the sea, just Jesus and me, i can hear Him whispering through the gentle lapping of each wave that kisses the shore. Yes, He is with me no matter where i am but Jesus and i have a very special bond that i experience in the deepest of my spirit and soul ... when we are at the beach together. It's our special place! :) This is why "the beach" means so much to me.
There are many more things “about me” and if you want to know more, just ask. i am an open person, generally speaking, and sometimes i am too open. Sincerity, honesty, loyalty and confidentiality are very important to me. i don’t like negative confrontations, deception or dishonesty or people who are fake ~ just be who you are, be honest about it and if you don’t like it ~ change it but don’t fake it.

Deuteronomy 30:16

For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

Mark 12:29-31 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Psalm 91:14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

My Interests

These are a few of my favorite things:
Studying the Word of God. Traveling. i really like the beach (especially Hawaii) i like norkeling, shelling and beachcombing. i like to play tennis but I haven't done that in years.
i enjoy being with my family, which of course includes my Havanese dogs. i enjoy being with my friends. i like mowing the yard. i like to eat, shop (especially for shoes). i like flea-markets, fairs, and other outdoor events. i like to fish occasionally or play with the metal detector (on the beach). i enjoy computer games When i am bored, i enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles on the computer. i really like road trips. i like people-watching. Anything that is basically down to earth ... i like it or i'll try to like it. i like sunny days, thunderstorms, watching the clouds. i like the deep, rich colors of nature after a rainfall; the smell of rain, puppies breath, spring, roses, plumerias, coffee brewing, cotton candy, caramel corn, freshly mowed grass, birthday cakes, new books, old wet wood, tennis balls, and the ocean.
i like listening to the rain fall. i like the wind (the feel and the sound), the sound of the waves kissing the shore, the feel of sand beneath my feet (and between my toes), the sun on my face, the sting of cold winter wind on my face, the warmth of a bonfire on cold winter nights (especially when there is snow). i'm basically a southern country girl at heart.
i especially like hearing, seeing, smelling and feeling God's presence in all the "little things" in life.

1Corinthians 12:12-2612The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
14Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

1 John 4:19 We love because he first loved us.

I'd like to meet:

If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up. Ecclesiastes 4:10

i'd like to meet David, Jonathan, and Esther, Mary, Martha, Deborah, John, Peter, Paul and Mary (Jesus' mother), Elisha, Elijah, John and Job ...(you know who they are.) Some other people (but not all) i wouldn't mind meeting are: Kathryn Kuhlman, Aimee Semple McPherson, Watchman Nee, Joyce, Beth, Creflo, T.D., Max, Stormie, Charles, James, Kathy, Nicol, Darlene, Natalie, Rebecca, etc. Then there are others such as Alexander Selkirk and Tami Oldham Ashcraft, Robert Dean Frisbie, Lucy Irvine, Hallie Erminie Rives, and Tom Neale (check out who they are.) And, i would certainly like to meet several of my myspace friends 'in person' someday and anyone else the Lord puts in my path.

A Pebble
(By James W. Foley)
Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea.
And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be.
Drop a pebble in the water: in a minute you forget,
But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,
And those little waves a-flowing to a great big wave have grown;
You've disturbed a mighty river just by dropping in a stone.
Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on.
They keep spreading, spreading, spreading from the center as they go,
And there is no way to stop them, once you've started them to flow.
Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute you forget;
But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,
And perhaps in some sad heart a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,
And disturbed a life was happy ere you dropped that unkind word.
Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a flash and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave
Till you wouldn't believe the volume of the one kind word you gave.
Drop a word of cheer and kindness: in a minute you forget;
But there's gladness still a-swelling, and there's joy circling yet,
And you've rolled a wave of comfort whose sweet music can be heard
Over miles and miles of water just by dropping one kind word.

Music:

i like a large variety of music. i like some older rock/pop music, some classical music, a little mild contemporary country and i even listen to Hawaiian and tropical tunes. Some musical soundtracks are good. However, i mostly listen to Christian music.

Some of my favorite Christian artists are (in no particular order):
Will and Crystal Yates, Susan E.Waldrop, Reeni Mederos, Rebecca Hawkins, Spiritsong, Warsuki, Hidden In Him, Beyond the Veil, Monica Dennington, Mark Kenny, Tammy Trent, Kathy Troccoli, Darlene Zschech, Carolyn Vargas, Allison, Rita Springer, Martha Munizzi, Mary Alessi, Karen Wheaton, Juanita Bynum, Selah, Nicol Sponberg, Natalie Grant, Judy Jacobs, Janie Aduddell, Casting Crowns, Hillsongs, Don Moen, Ginger Smith, Kutless, Amy Grant, Yolanda Adams,Darlene Z., Mercy Me, Aaron Shust, Building 429, Plus One, Babbie Mason, Jeremy Camp, Jaci Velasquez, News Boys, Ray Boltz, Nicole C. Mullen, Dennis Jernigan, Twila Paris, Michael W. Smith, Keith Green, Phillips, Craig and Dean, Kristy Sterling, Rebecca St.James, and Donnie McClurkin ... and MANY, MANY MORE.

1Corinthians 13If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Movies:

No, i have never been in a movie! LOL Just kidding ...
i like movies that are based on true stories, movies that leave me with something to think about, movies that teach a lesson or at least have a good, decent plot, movies that are filmed on or near the ocean, the beach, the tropics, etc... because of the scenery. i like some comedies and some of the older musicals. i like movies that touch my heart and soul - especially Christian-based movies.

Television:

i don't watch a lot of tv but i do watch "Survivor" and "LOST". Those are two of my favs.
TV that i like and watch occasionally are:

Cold Case, CSI (all of them), Grey's Anatomy, Law and Order:SVU, Without A Trace, Numbers, DateLine, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, Dancing with the Stars, and a few others. i like to watch shows on the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, History Channel, TLC, Food Network, National Geographic, Science Channel, HGTV, Lifetimme/LMN, Hallmark, and Disney sometimes ... and of course, the (few) Christian networks that i get.

Books:

The only book(s) i read regularly at all is the Bible, however, i do enjoy reading other books sometimes. A few of my favorite authors include: Beth Moore, Joyce Meyer, Stormie Omartian, Max Lucado, Kay Arthur, Susan E. Waldrop, C.S. Lewis, Henry Cloud, Charles Stanley, James Dobson, T.D. Jakes, Neil T. Anderson, Henry Blackaby ... . i also like books by Randy Wayne White. We listen to audio books when we travel, mostly mysteries, dramas, etc.

Heroes:

Jesus is my hero!
Shipwrecked! The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions.But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened- everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. "God, how could you do this to me?" he cried.Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.It's easy to get discouraged sometimes when things appear to be going badly. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God.For all the negative things we have to say to ourselves, God has a positive answer for it.You say, "It's impossible." God says: "All thing are possible". (Luke 18:27)You say, "I'm too tired." God says: "I will give you rest". (Matt 11:28-20)You say, "Nobody really loves me." God says: "I love you". (John 3:16 - John 13:34)You say, "I can't go on." God says: "My grace is sufficient." (II Cor. 12:9 - Psalm 91:15)You say, "I can't figure things out." God says: "I will direct your steps." (Proverbs 3:5-6)You say, "I can't do it." God says: "You can do all things in Me." (Phil 4:13)You say, "It's not worth it." God says: "It will be worth it." (Romans 8:28)You say, "I can't forgive myself." God says: "I forgive you." (I John 1:9 - Romans 8:1)You say, "I can't manage." God says: "I will supply all your needs." (Phil 4:19)You say, "I'm afraid." God says: "I have not given you a spirit of fear." (II Tim. 1:7)You say, "I'm always worried and frustrated" God says: "Cast all your cares on ME (I Peter 5:7)You say, "I don't have enough faith." God says: "I've given everyone a measure of faith." (Romans 12:3)You say, "I'm not smart enough." God says: "I give you wisdom." (I Cor. 1:30)You say, "I feel all alone." God says: "I will never leave you or forsake you." (Heb. 13:5)Pass this on, you never know whose life may be in need of this today.There are some days (and weeks) that we ALL feel our huts are burning.
A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert.

During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.

After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him,

"After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?" The other friend replied "When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.

But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

Psalm 91
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.14 "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."
