About Me

..
The opening words of the first song on Rebecca Hawkins’s 2006 album, Highway 7, “Give It to the Lord”, explodes with “When your life is empty, time don’t ease the pain. You ain’t what you should be, you think you'll go insane. Give it to the Lord, Give it to the Lord, Give it to the maker of your soul, Give it to the Lord.” Rebecca’s hard hitting rockin Gospel Blues music shares the pain, struggles, and celebration of turning our lives over to Christ, and how we are made new again in His eyes.Rebecca is the Venue Music Director for Small Church at Cornerstone Community Church in Wildomar California, and has been a part of their worship team for the last year. Rebecca has been instrumental in shaping the worship experience for Small Church where she brings a gospel blues, acoustic, and rock sound creating an atmosphere to the worship experience that allows members to connect to each other and to Christ. Rebecca has worked closely with leadership to take the worship experience to the next level, and Small Church has seen a steady increase in membership attendance under her guidance.Rebecca has been a worship leader and soloist for churches, conferences, concerts, and women’s events. She has been invited to sing and share her testimony to thousands. She has performed at many special musical events, such as, the North American Christian Convention at Crossroads Church in Corona California, Spirit West Cost in Del Mar California, Temecula Festival for the Arts, and the Perris Fair Grounds. Rebecca's ministry has supported churches in many dynamic ways, for example, The Grove Community Church's women’s "Christmas Dinner", Ranchland Church "Grand Opening and Second Annual Opening” and Southwest Christian Church "Campaign for Kindness." Her gifts and talents have been a blessing to many churches and venues.Rebecca is the granddaughter of professional musicians who played Dixieland jazz, and music has been in her family all of her life. Most notable with her great aunt Ruby Blevins, known by her stage name as Patsy Montana who was the first county western women singer with a million selling single “I want to be a cowboy’s sweetheart” in 30’s and 40’s. Patsy was the sweetheart of many a movie cowpoke, appearing in numerous western films. Rebecca had played for many years in the secular music arena with country western and rock bands, but gave that all up when she dedicated her music to Jesus.Rebecca is a gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist that has been inspired to write music that uniquely encourages an individual to push forward in their walk with the Christ. She draws her lyrics from her own life experiences; transformed and testifying of her new hope in our Lord Jesus. Rebecca has a unique ability to perform her music so that it can be heard by a diversity of audiences. Her passionate, soulful voice conveys powerful emotion to her audience. Her sound has been compared to Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and Wynonna Judd, with a Gospel Blues and Rock edge that stirs the hearts of God's people as well as those in need of a Savior.
