This site was created to provide a forum for the discussion of overpopulation. I was surprised to see how little conversation was taking place concerning the biggest problem we all face. While global warming is moving to the fore, I hear few voices addressing the core issue, which is overpopulation. We are already overpopulated, in what is called overshoot, heading toward global collapse. My position is this: I advocate for childlessness. I believe that those who have no children should be celebrated and honored as people making as important a contribution to the continuation of life as parents. Some of us must make sacrifices to allow for others to have what they need to survive. Adoption is great. Having small families (2 or less) is ok. Anything else is irresponsible and damaging to our survival as a species. I believe women are the gatekeepers, that women, as a group, must control their fertility and that individual women are directly responsible for their childbearing decisions. Where women are powerless, they must be empowered, and where women have choices they must exercise them responsibly. I believe in condoms and male responsibility for birth control. It's not all on women. I believe in alternative energy and hopeful technology as a way to give ourselves more time to reduce our numbers and live more lightly on the Earth. Lastly I believe that if we fail to do these things we will become extinct.I welcome debate and discussion so long as it remains issue focused. Personal attacks are unwelcome. Parents are welcome and honored for their choices so long as they can add substance to the debate. Yes parenthood is joyful and sacred. We know. That's not what this site is about. This site is about making room for all children to have a future.Being that we share a small planet in the vast ocean of space, we have a responsibility to our ancestors and to our descendants to make the often difficult decisions necessary to sustain life on Earth.

My Interests

Saving the world. Encouraging women to acknowledge their great power. Creating a better society.

I'd like to meet:

People interested in continuing life on Earth. People who are committed to social and environmental justice. Childless mothers. Mothers to the children of the world. Responsible men and women. Hopeful people.

Television:

I'd only like to add to this a couple facts: 1. "Nitrogen" fertilizers are most frequently derived from petroleum, which has already peaked and which will only become more expensive. When it becomes prohibitively expensive to make and use these fertilizers you will see a collapse in food production and mass starvation. 2. We have over one billion more people on the planet today than when this movie was made. That means that a majority of the global population would starve if we all tried to eat an American style diet, not just half of the global population as it states in this movie (as if half of humanity starving to death is acceptable).
