About Me

Myspace Comments

I have many interests, but my first and foremost interest is spending time with my family. In addition to my husband of 23 years, I have three sisters, of which I’m the oldest. I'm a mother of 3 grown children, six step children, five grandchildren and LOTS of step grandchildren. I live just outside of Detroit, Michigan, where I was born and have lived most of my life. Besides my regular day job, I'm a pre-published author of Historical Western Romance.
I'm interested in Tarot and just about all aspects of the paranormal. I have a deck of Tarot cards and a guide that I've been reading and studying the past few months. I love Sylvia Brown and have lots of her books. I try and make sure I catch her every Wednesday morning on the Montel Williams Show.
I've always been curious about Yoga and Meditaton and have wanted to try them. I have a few books and CD's on these subjects, but I haven't had the time to try either as of yet. I suppose when the time is right, I will.
I like creating cumputer graphics and backgrounds. I have PSP7 and have took some online classes to learn how to use the program. I've attempted to make some romance writers backgroud sets and created a website with free downloads, but the site and the sets are outdated and I haven't had time to do much of anything to them.
Lately I've been dabbling in genealogy and have been researching my family tree. I think everybody should do this. Family is important, and everyone should know their family background. I've had a blast doing this and found some interesting things on my father's side and met a couple of distant relatives from my research. You'd be surprised at what you find.
I like to read and I'm all over the place in regards to genre, however, romance is my favorite. I've been reading romances since I was a teenager. I started out reading authors like Rosemary Rogers and Kathleen Woodiwess back in the 70's and have been hooked ever since.
I love history, I like learning new things and I love a challenge. I enjoy all these things and more, however, my number one passion is writing.
About six years ago, I decided to try my hand at writing and I began plotting my first romance novel. I joined numerous online writers lists, took writing classes and joined RWA. Everything was coming along great until I became ill and was forced to set it aside. Now I'm back and ready to pick up where I left off. Talk about a challenge!
At present I'm working on a historical western romance novel, entitled Dangerous Desires. It placed 4th in the historical category of the 2003 RWA Utah Chapter Great Beginnings Contest. This was my very first contest ever and I was thrilled, to say the least. I'd entered mostly for the feedback and to see if I was wasting my time. I never even dreamed that I'd final.
I love reading and learning about the 1800's old west and Mexico time period, so naturally, that's where and when my novel takes place. I have 13 chapters completed, and am working hard get it completed and polished. I hope to have it ready for submission to a publisher and/or an agent this fall.
Wish me luck!

Music:

I like Country, Rock (especially the 60's & 70's), of course the old Motown from back in the day. I wouldn't be a true Detroit Diva if I didn't!
I like the Blues, raggae and I've just recently begun to get into New Wave. Really, I like just about everything, except Hip Hop. Never could get into that.
My favorite country music is from the 70's. Singers such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams Jr. and David Allen Coe are, in my opinion, THE originals.
I just can't seem to get into the new country music. I like some of the songs but it seems like there's just sooo many new singers, you can't keep track of them all.
Below are some of the true 1970's country originals...
JUST TO NAME A FEW OF MY FAVORITES (This doesn't even scratch the surface)...
1. THE DOORS (YOU JUST GOTTA LOVE JIM MORRISON)
2. NEIL YOUNG
3. LYNARD SKYNARD
4. THE EAGLES
5. BAD COMPANY
6. BON JOVI
7. KID ROCK
8. THE ALLMAN BROTHERS
9. CAT STEVENS
10. BOB SEGER
11. MARVIN GAYE
12. AL GREEN
13. RICK JAMES
14. THE ROLLING STONES
15. THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND
16. EMMYLOU HARRIS
17. VAN MORRISON
18. MELANIE
19. STEVIE NICKS & FLEETWOOD MAC
20. CHERYL CROWE
21. THE B52'S
22. THE SUPREMES
23. LEONARD COHEN
24.LED ZEPPLIN
25.THE TEMPTATIONS

Movies:

I love all Clint Eastwood westerns, but my favorites are THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES and TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARAH.
My #1 all time favorite western is LONESOME DOVE, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall. I also read the book, which is written by Larry McMurty. I love all of his books/movies.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE is another one. I just ordered the cd.
THE NOTEBOOK and DIRTY DANCING.
LEGENDS OF THE FALL starring Bradd Pitt is another good one.
Oh yeah, how could I forget Mel baby in BRAVEHEART? *grin*

Television:

Although I don't watch much "regular" TV, I do like to watch the judge shows, such as Judge Judy and Divorce Court. lol Don't know why, but I do.
AMERICAN IDOL is another one. I only started to get into it this year. I knew Jordan Sparks would win this season. That girl's gonna be HUGE! I thought Blake Lewis was good, too and I'm sure we haven't heard the last of him.
Just about all HBO series are my favorites. Deadwood and the Sopranos, loved Sex and the city (really hated to see that show go), enjoyed Rome...they're all great. Big Love is okay...it took me a while to get into it, though. Oh yeah, Carnivale...that was a really good one, too.

Books:

Any book by Larry McMurty is a great read. He wrote LONESOME DOVE, DEAD MANS WALK AND THE STREETS OF LOREDO as well as many others. He also wrote THE LAST PICTURE SHOW and the sequel, TEXASVILLE. He has the best talent when it comes to fleshing out and creating quirky characters. He's a wonderful writer. You can learn a lot about writing and creating characters just from watching his movies and reading his books.
Another favorite western author of mine is, of course, Louis L'Amor. Anyone who reads westerns knows he's the best.
Rosemary Rogers' 1970's romance novel series with Ginny and Steve of SWEET SAVAGE LOVE & sequels are my #1 all time favorite romances. I just finished reading the first novel in the series for the 100'th time since I was a teenager. It never fails to inspire me.
Judith McNaught takes a real close second to Rosemary Rogers with her classic, KINGDOM OF DREAMS. All of her novels are the bomb.
Of course I like to read Kathleen Woodiweiss. THE WOLD AND THE DOVE and SHANNA are among the old time originals.
I also like to read new author Cheryl Howe. I enjoyed AFTER THE ASHES and THE PIRATE & THE PURITAN and look forward to her next novel.
I like all Sylvia Brown. I have tons of her books and hope to add more to my personal library.
Below is a little bit about my father, who was a professional pool player. He was called CORNBREAD RED by the pool players and was very well known in Detroit and the billiards industry.
I guess the reason I'm mentioning this here, in the book section, is because of his book.
Dad passed away in Feburary of 2004-RIP Dad.
