We Can All Help!

About Me

I am starting a fundraiser for a critically ill lady that doesn't have the money for the needed care.
Please read my Blog, for more details.

I've been involved in charities ever since I can remember. I started in my teens following my mother who was travelling all over the world for humanitarian causes.
After she died, I continued, working many years in India for people withleprosy. I went to several african countries as a doctor and, since 1996, startedmy own program for Brazilian favelas (shanty-towns) and street kids.
!
It doesn't mean that I could live all the time where I was working, havinga husband and two daughters, but they share these values.
I would like, to give an example to tell one or two stories about my workin Brazil, just to say that if we try, we can achieve something. Helping the needy.
People have Web Pages on the Internet for a variety of reasons, namely that we haveour pages to be able to give visibility to our priorities.
Any humanitarian cause interests me. These are my priorities.
Here's an example -
This is a boy, who's name is Michael.
Michael is from a large brazilian favela and I was able to send him toEurope twice to learn IT that he now teaches in his favela.
Michael's mother Rita, is a teacher, that I sent to Paris to study, and, again, now gives classes back home.
So, the point is, they have a job. They have an education and can now helpothers to get an education and improve their standard of living.
I also distribute a lot of food, clothes and provide medical care.
I've built homes. Small but, sturdy ones but in cement, that wouldn't go down withthe first tropical rain.
For instance the house I built for Michael is in cement, with foundations(extremely rare), and with everything that's needed inside. Bed, stove, refrigerator, etc.
Decent housing and space is a rarity in Rocinha, Rio de Janeiro. Most ofthose who build in bricks "sell" their roof as space for another to build adwelling upon. Often, you have two or three on top of another.
There's a lot to do in this world. Nobody can do it all, but if we all do alittle something, it adds up.
I aim at children, because they are innocent and have no responsabilitywhatsoever for the situation they find themselves in.
Once again, these are my priorities.
