Muyisa Orphanage D.R.Congo

The children of the Democratic Republic of Congo need YOUR help. In Janury 2006 we began working with the staff at the Muyisa Primary school for orphans.We have since joined with "Hearts and Hands International Inc. to try to get more help to these children. Pierre Kakule (director and coordinator of Tayna) built these children a school before a home as he knew if these children did not have a education, they would NOT have a future. They are still in need of many items for the school, but it is time to get these children a home.The children of Kasugho were left orphaned as a direct result of the 94' genocide in Rwanda. The Interahamwe are still at large in many parts of DRC. But thanks to the awesome efforts of the staff at the "Tayna Gorilla Reserve", "The Tayna Centre for Conservation and Biology", the staff at "Muyisa", and the local people that have choose to get involved, they have not seen militia there in over 2 years. However, these children still need help.I have seen first hand the need in DRC, as we just returned from Kasugho last month. We have been supporting the work at Tayna for the last 4 years through a annual Golf Tournament but we need to get involved on a bigger scale. Getting a basic home built for these 280 children will only cost $30,000. Which is not alot by American standards but is a fortune in the Congo.I will contine to do my part in anyway I can, on my recent trip there I actually adopted a six year old girl from our school for orphans and hope to have her here with me by Summer! (That was not planned but was a true blessing!!!)I hope more people will choose to help, and remember...one person CAN make a difference!!
