About El Entri
With the itinerant life of the gypsy, crossing the province of Burgos, Aquilino Jiménez "El Entri" was born in a small village called Melgar de Fernamental. His family continued on to Madrid where they stayed until he reached the age of five when they moved to a village of Cantabria, Santoña; a fishing village where his “afición†(love of flamenco) awoke at the age of six. They returned to Madrid to the neighbourhood of Caño Roto, a neighbourhood of artists of the stature of “El Naniâ€, grand master of the guitar, “El Tupeâ€, dancer, Las Grecas, Manzanita, and a large number of others.
His first contract arose when he was thirteen, in the Costa Brava, in the company of “El Sali†during which he became known as “El Entriâ€. From this moment on El Entri began to travel to many countries around the world – Holland, Belgium, Germany, the United States, Syria, etc.
Among the diverse figures with whom he has worked are: Manolo Caracol whom he accompanied in the Tablao de los Canasteros in Madrid; in Torres Bermejas with Camarón de la Isla; with Enrique Morente in Amsterdam and Granada; in Café de Chinitas for a long period accompanying José Mercé; and many flamenco dancers such as “La Chanaâ€, “El Güitoâ€, MarÃa AlbaicÃn, “La Chungaâ€, MarÃa Rosa, Luisillo, Antonio Canales, Joaquin Cortés, etc.
For seven years he accompanied VÃctor Monje Serranito. Also with Pepe Habichuela, accompanying Carmen Linares and many other artists.
The last ten years he has dedicated to teaching in the academy of flamenco " Amor de Dios " in Madrid, although since the age of seven he has felt his vocation as a teacher and even then he began passing on the first chords he learnt to others. Among his students are his brother Ramón Jiménez, a great guitarist, and his son Jesús de Rosario, much admired within the flamenco world. El Entri's great wish is to continue teaching for as long as God allows.
PENSAMIENTO A LA GUITARRA
A ti guitarra te acaricio
En ti mi sentimiento pongo
De mi reÃr y mi llorar
A través de ti la gente sabe
En ti se funden mis pasos de esta vida
Y el silencio tiembla cuando tus notas lo acarician...
Aquilino Jiménez “El Entriâ€
THOUGHTS ON THE GUITAR
You, guitar, you I caress
In you I put my feelings
My laughing and tears
Through you the people know
In you are revealed my steps in this life
And the silence quivers when your notes caress it...
