WORLD BLUES, featuring world class jazz guitarist Abu Djigo and singer/guitarist Gary Nelson, is a World Acoustic cd, recorded in Dakar, Senegal in West Africa and in California. GUITARS- Abu Djigo is a world musician in the truest sense of the term, based in Italy, the USA, and West Africa. Born in Senegal into the Fulani tribe, he is adept at jazz, blues, and many African styles. Abu tours Europe regularly and travels periodically to Brazil and India to play with musicians there. He co-wrote several songs on the WORLD BLUES album with Deborah Barer and Gary Nelson. Abu plays guitar with Taman Kan, led by Baba Sissoko (Sting, Buena Vista Social Club, Habib Koite, Youssou 'n Dour, Salif Keita, Ry Cooder), and has performed with Solo Cissokho, Oumou Sangare, and many more. VOCALS, GUITARS - Gary Nelson has performed with Grammy nominee Judy Mowatt of the Wailers and I Threes, Joe Higgs (mentor of Bob Marley), David Paich (founder of Toto), Hux Brown (Toots & the Maytals), Chepito Areas (Santana), Fully Fullwood, Tony Chin, Tenor Grant, and Earl Zero (Soul Syndicate), Zulu Spear, Barry Melton (Country Joe & the Fish), and Rankin' Scroo. Gary plays bass and sings harmony for alternative/neo-soul/reggae group BASS CULTURE and for reggae singer/songwriter Cosmo.
