About Me

Irrepressible free-spitited "High-Life" dance music from West Africa, both contemporary and traditional with funk and jazz, and the finest harmonic progressions of the flute and the ngoni (African Harp), most excellent drumming, saxophone, outageous dancing and singing, all to bring you the sunshine and excitement of Africa. Led by Bucarr Ndow, one of the famous "Master Drummers of Africa", the sell-out show at the Royal Festival Hall, London, YIRI BAA will have you out of your seats dancing and begging for more. Formed in 1999, when Bucarr brought together a group of musicians to fulfil his ambition and bring his favourite West African rhythms to British audiences. The band members are accomplished musicians, touring and performing through Europe and the UK, also with other ensembles with backgrounds of jazz, latin, folk and funk.
