About Me

Ellen Garfield has been teaching and performing music for more than 20 years. She studied performance and music education at The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and The Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut. Although she loves to “rock” and has been in several rock cover bands, Ellen’s passion is world music with a great love for Flamenco and Celtic sounds. She specializes in Jewish music and folk rock and performs concerts in several languages including Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino (Judeo-Espagnol). Ellen plays acoustic guitar, piano and hand drums. She does vocal coaching for musical theatre, pop singers, cantorial and choral soloists. Currently, Ellen is the lead vocalist for the bands The Mavens (Jewish/Israeli/Yiddish Theatre) from Boston, Massachusetts and The Passover Project (Jewish/Klezmer/progressive rock) from Trieste, Italy directed by Davide Casali. Ellen also performs in a folk rock duo with Matteo Bognolo from Trieste, Italy. She and Matteo have performed in clubs in Trieste and have been heard live on Radio Onde Furlane, Udine, Italy. Ellen has been a featured artist for the Klezmer Festival of Gradisca, Italy and for the Sera/Notte Erev/Laila concerts in Trieste, Italy.
