About Me

Hey - thanks for looking in! I am originally from Victoria BC, and currently live in Portland Oregon. For a full bio, check my web site. I play Highland pipes, smallpipes, Highland Hornpipe, Deger pipes, fretless electric bass and double bass. This will be my first "solo" CD even though there is a lot of people playing as well. It should be released uh, sometime. This page will have the majority of the liner notes as the cd liner will be brief. I will continue to add stuff here and there and pictures and whatever. If you're looking for a nice traditional bagpipe recording - this isn't it. A few experiments, a few really non traditional things done on the pipes and bass and some pleasant stuff too. Of course, one person's pleasant is another's ....well anyway, have a listen. I will rotate the toons on here and you will be able to get them at cdbaby, itunes, other download sites and HERE NOW! Have a great week!!______________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ __________________ Recordings : ____________________________________________________________ ______ STRINGED MIGRATION: Fly Not Yet ____________________________________________________________ ____ ROB BARRICK: Aye Toons ____________________________________________________________ ______ NEW SHILLING: Live! ____________________________________________________________ ______ Rose and Thistle Band - Young May Moon ____________________________________________________________ ______ Rose and Thistle Band - Celtic Wedding Music Vol. 2 ____________________________________________________________ ______ Rob Barrick - Highland Dance Standards ____________________________________________________________ ______ New Shilling ____________________________________________________________ ______ R. Waltz Sandwich

This track is three waltzes I've written over the years. The first (and last reprise) is Baroque-in-Pipes, then Victoria, and Cliff and Jeans Waltz.  Dan Compton plays guitar on this and I love h...

Session 1 - Session 2

This one is in two parts obviously - the first is kind of fun using the Highland Hornpipe, a very cool instrument, if you already play pipes.  The second I'm just playing bass with a couple of my...

Anguish

Well this is probably the scariest track on here.....not easy to release actually!  It is a mood, so don't look for a melody. I guess I was in a mood THAT night..............

King Orpheo

This song is literally hundreds of years old. Elizabeth Nicholson originally got it from an Andrew Calhoun arrangement and does it great justice. We plugged a tune in there, but tried to keep an old f...

Peace Pipe

This is an experiment - it is a pastoral hypnotizing kind of sound, all pipes again, but some fun in the studio created some cool organ-like sounds....

Weird Sunday

Well, this is an odd kind of sparse-happy-techno thing. It sounds a bit like synthesizers, but it's pipes, and the Deger at the end. I tried out my new upright bass too!...
