HalThePiper Makes Any Event Unforgettable!

About Me

Free MySpace slideshows, photo and video editing at www.OneTrueMedia.comNothing focuses attention or makes your event as memorable as the skirl of the pipes provided by a skilled, kilted piper in formal highland dress.
Whether you are planning a casual beach wedding, a formal dinner/ceremony, or a solemn funeral with full military honors, I have the appropriate attire and can assist you in selecting music that will suit the occasion.
I am also a Bagpipe Teacher, and I TEACH BAGPIPES in the Annapolis, MD area. Please have a look at my bagpipe teaching website at http://www.learningmusician.com/HalThePiper
Hi! I am HalThePiper and I can provide a special Celtic touch by playing my BAGPIPE at your special occasion - whether or not it is one of the following:
Wedding
Military Dining-In or Dining-Out
Corporate Event , Product Launch, Fund Raiser
Sports or Seasonal Event
Anniversary, Birthday Party, Family Reunion
Funeral or Memorial Service
Three of the sample tracks on this site are my smallpipes - the other track features my Great Highland Pipes (sometimes called Warpipes) playing Scotland The Brave (Cadence to Arms
if you are a Dropkick Murphys fan), Highland Cathedral, Wings and Minstrel Boy. You can hear get pricing information, and see my complete tune list at my Band Website - you can find a link listed under "HalThePiper: General Info" on this page.
My Warpipes can also be set up to play at exactly Bflat instead of the normal "Bflat Plus" my band chanter produces. My smallpipes (you may be listening to them now) are at concert pitch (440A).
In addition, I play the Deger Electronic Bagpipe, which can be played in a variety of keys - this is the electronic bagpipe played by Gaelic Storm's piper, and other stage performers.
I live in Annapolis , Maryland, and play as a member and occasional soloist with The Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums . As a solo performer, I have played for a Vice Admiral's retirement in the Navy Yard in Washington D.C., and at a number of Military Dining Out functions, including a Program Office Formal Dining Out at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
I often play in Oloughlin's Pub in Arnold, MD on St. Patrick's Day, and Irish events. I have performed in Harry Brown’s (Annapolis) , Stan & Joe’s (Annapolis), Middleton’s Tavern (Annapolis) , McGarvey’s (Annapolis), Texas Steak House (Arnold), The Irish Channel (Crofton) , Old Bowie Town Grille , Tir Na Nog (Baltimore) , and James Joyce, and Lucy's in Baltimore.
I've been asked to play a lot recently at Weddings, Funerals, and private Parties. The Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums perform almost every other weekend - including Celtic Weekend
at The Renaissance Festival. (After the band performed at The Renaissance Festival, I had a great time jamming with The Rogues at the Dragon's Lair!).
The Chesapeake Caledonians will perform at the Anne Arundel County Scottish Games at the AA County Fair Grounds in Oct.
I recently joined a Traditional Irish Pub Song Club, ( TIPSC ). We perform at Killarney House in Davidsonville every third Tuesday of the month, and at the Old Bowie Town Grille the first Saturday of each month. I had fun playing at The Old Bowie Town Grille's Half-Way to St. Patrick’s Day Party.
I play the Great Pipes with TIPSC, in addition to a Deger Pipe. I also am featured singing Minstrel Boy, accompanying myself on the Deger. We get the guitars going, a squeeze box droning, our drummer thumping, our fiddler joining in, and our other singers backing me up. Last Fall, TIPSC entertained at The Maryland Irish Festival in November at Timonium.

This year, when available, and for fun, I will be playing occasionally to support my friend Hurricane Kevin's Open Mic's at various local venues. Occasionally I play a set with Seamus Kennedy on a Tuesday night at Harry Brown’s (Annapolis) .
When Judith and I show up to see Off The Boat perform, James Gallagher usually calls me up to play a short set or two. Those boys bring in such a wonderful crowd that really seems to enjoy the pipes. Off The Boat will be playing at The Irish Channel Pub in Crofton about once a month. I often play pipes with a local Annapolis band called the Wild Rovers in venues like Fado's, Castle Bay, RennFair, and Navy Football Tailgaters.
I am working with a wonderrful vocalist named Brittany B. We are putting together several sets of Celtic oriented music as aimed at entertaining dinner crowds at Irish oriented establishments. Britany will also be available to provide Wedding-related entertainment with me.
I am also working together with several keyboard musicians to put together a number of sets of music with the pipes playing with piano, keyboard, and/or organ, which we will offer to Brides as another option for ceremony music. The music produced by these two instruments playing in concert can be stunningly beautiful, so this is a very exciting development!
Oh, I almost forgot, please let me know whether you enjoyed the slideshow and the music - I plan to continually make improvements to this site, and your input will help me!
