About Me

During August you can visit my studio at Skansen. I will not check my mail - and will not be able to approve any friend's request. People with private pages here at MySpace will not be approved as my friends - unless they send me a letter and give me a very good reason. About my studio - here's two links - one in English:

I was born December 11, 1850 in Karlskrona, Sweden. I died October 17, 1921 in Stockholm.I started at the academy of art 1864 - before my 14th birthday.I worked seriously at the school, my classmates didn't.1875 in Munich - I finished the painting that made me famous; Nymph of hunting - with two fauns. You can see that I was inspired by the beautiful painting of Susanna in the bath - made by Rubens - which I had seen several times at the Alte Pinakotek in Munich.1877 I painted a portrait of my very good friend - the Norwegian author Henrik Ibsen - today you can see it at the Ibsen-museum in Oslo. 1878 I moved to Rome - where I stayed until 1889 - when I moved home to Sweden again. I became a royal painter, and favourite painter of the Swedish bourgeoisie. I didn't like to mix my artist work with politic - witch unfortunately led to a misunderstanding for some years between me and my colleagues. But those where the years when we where young. Today I use to see both Carl Larsson and his wonderful family, and Anders Zorn and his wife Emma and his mother.
