About Me

In September of 1982 I wandered into the Virginia Museum Of Art pretty much on a whim. There was an exhibit running entitled La Bella Mano. This was my first exposure to both Pre-Raphaelite art and Art Nouveau
The first painting I saw at the La Bella Mano exhibit was Rossetti's "Veronica Veronese". Painted in 1872, the model was Alexa Wilding. I had never seen anything like it and was absolutely stunned by its beauty. A few years later I made a trip to the Delaware Art Museum to see it again.
In February of 1991, I attended a symposium of "The Pre-Raphaelites and Their Context" by leading scholars of the Pre-Raphaelite period at the Huntington Library in California. I continue to collect prints and books (over 300) on the subject to this day. I'm still searching for a copy of the Virginia Surtees Rossetti Catalogue Raisonné though. A little while back I did manage to find a very nice 1872 edition of Buchanan's "Fleshly School Of Poetry", the literary attack on the Pre-Raphaelites that pretty much sent Rossetti over the edge.
I'll continue to add to this site--more pictures and notices on new books. I hope a few like-minded individuals will enjoy it.
I created my profile with a blank canvas, a few pots of paint, a Thomas' Myspace Editor V4 and a paint brush.
