About Me

Myspace Contact Tables
The Man In Black was born the oldest of three children...one of each. Spent the 80's managing Plan 9 Records, playing bass, deejaying clubs and concerts (everything from Black Flag, Willie Dixon, Jesus & Mary Chain to Shriekback, The Fuzztones and The Replacements ). Spent the 90's in Hollywood, California. Four years as a buyer for Poobah Records in Pasadena, a year at Golden Apple Comics and then running my own store on Melrose Avenue called THE GOBLIN MARKET which specialized in Horror, Sci-fi, Fantasy & Cult films. Most of my clientele were industry people, directors, special FX guys and musicians...Barbara Steele, Guillermo Del Toro and Quentin Tarantino to Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, and Marilyn Manson. You could walk in, hang out and find yourself involved in lengthy conversations about films with the people who made them or others that just loved the genre. When I closed the store down (due to my father's death-I wanted to be closer to my family) I couldn't believe people cried over the fact that I was closing. The LA store was a particularly great experience and many of the people I met then, I still maintain friendships with to this day. After 1999 I had traded places from the left coast back to the right coast and started another store of the macabre called DIABOLIK. That closed after 3 years and I went into the evil world of advertising for a while. Truly evil. Now I work at a bookstore and a Civil War Museum surrounded by things I love and am interested in.I enjoy collecting books for my ever expanding library, visiting Civil War battlefields, working on my future mad scientist laboratory, reading history and biographies, watching films, riding my bicycle, swimming, ice cream, massive quantities of ice tea, learning to cook, finding household items in the color black, sour pickles (hard to find), a good bottle of wine or absinthe, and to dream.
Favorite food: Carbohydrate-laminated bovine protein wafers with bacterially coagulated lactic secretion.
Favorite candy: Reese's Peanut-Butter Cups.
Favorite color: Any color as long as its black.
Favorite Stooge: Larry
Favorite Holiday: Halloween.
Favorite thing about Myspace: Suzanne
Favorite new band: The Twilight Singers
I've recently had some people move out of my life but suddenly had other much more positive influences move in. I realized the other day that I have a lot of friendships that have now gone well past the 25 year mark. I've got a close knit family that all love each other and that's something I don't always see in others around me and makes me realize how fortunate I've been.
I keep the number of friends on this site at a manageable (for me) 666 friends. If I like you or you seem interesting...and MAYBE your band doesn't suck, I'll let you on....but somebody has to go...you or the person whose place you're taking...this is the part where the Ennio Morricone soundtrack kicks in and somebody dies of lead poisoning in a cloud of dust...."When the chimes end...Pick up your gun!"
...or you can always try the DIABOLIK myspace page....we're kinda related.

Coffin Joe the Brazilian film maker
Zacherle on his birthday
I just love Sid Haig (Captain Spaulding and a lot of Pam Grier movies) One time at American Cinematheque, watching spaghetti westerns with Chris D., Ernest Dickerson and Quentin Tarantino, we got in this conversation and Quentin was telling us about his next project Jackie Brown. "Dude, you gotta get SID HAIG!" "I DID! I DID!" Later I was sitting in a bar talking to Candy Del Mar when a guy came up next to me to order a beer. I looked at him and I don't exactly know why but blurted out, "You wouldn't be Sid Haig's son?" "YOU KNOW MY DAD?" Ya gotta love character actors. God bless Jack Hill
Yunno, all I got to say is, I couldn't get killed by a nicer guy

This was the first time the newly restored Green Hornet's Black Beauty was displayed in public. Hey, Bruce Lee drove this!
The amazing and ultra-cool Tura Satana. I'm taller but she can still kick my ass.
Somedays I just feel like I'm the ringmaster of a three ring circus and the monkeys are packing heat!
The Zombie-maker extraordinaire Tom Savini. I have a Vincent Price and a Lugosi life mask from his collection.
Getting lost at Forry's Ackermansion in the Hollywood Hills. It's unbelievable. I even tried on the top hat Lon Chaney Sr. wore in LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT. That's the arm used in the original WAR OF THE WORLDS that grabbed Ann Robinson from behind.
This was a fun afternoon. Nancy (Necromance on Melrose), Bob Burns and the Doktor. I had just won an auction for an original Pumpkinhead piece. Bob's saucer from THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL is behind us on the table. Bob regaled us with stories about his work with Paul Blaisdell
Checking out props used in THE ADDAMS FAMILY movie
From one of my all-time fave zombie flix DAWN OF THE DEAD, Scott H. Reiniger who played "Roger".
All of the original child actors from WILLIE WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (1971). That's "Charlie Bucket" on the far left.
Having a bullet riddled chest appliance applied by Academy Award winning makeup effects guy Matthew Mungle for the Steven Seagal film THE GLIMMER MAN. The best part was that the coroners in the scene were all played by real L.A. county coroners. They had amazing stories about Nicole Simpson, Natalie Wood and other questionable celebrity deaths.
