The songs were written and recorded in the home studio of The Rabbit and were then brought to Richmond, VA studio Sound of Music. There, more sounds were added with the help of Matt's brother, Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous, and engineer Alan Weatherhead.

Influences: The Rabbit is influenced by many different artists. Melissa was taken over as a kid when she saw David Bowie perform with Klaus Nomi on Saturday Night Live. From there she went on to listen to artists ranging from T. Rex to The Stranglers to 9353 and The Fall. Matthew would listen to his brother play "Smoke on the Water" over and over on the guitar.
