I Grieved a Loss
I grieved a loss that never was
For what it was, was not;
I grieved a loss of self, because
The self, my Soul forgot
I grieved the clothing of my life
The shell, supposed to be --
The husband of my Spirit-wife
And it, also grieved me.
Save for Love
People, desire must depart
before love can be true.
World, turn away
as I turn away from you
save for the love we carry.
Some songs I love... How about Jean's keyboards on "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" & "No Woman No Cry" ! Thanks also to "Rabbit" John Bundrick for one of my favorite songs, "I Can See Clearly Now". !
This Flame
All that is bright and new has a source.
All that is lightless and unliving was once burning.
There is a flame for each thing that is felt or known,
Moving or still, that can be lit only by belief.
Yesterday was today and today was tomorrow
And our soul flies back and forth from the center, home.
Tomorrow I may enter our body through another window
And your soul will go where it will through me.
This is the place where love enters awareness,
Fired into corporeal form, for our one mind to see.

I wrote the lines to "This Flame" above after an experience while praying. I believe we're all one in the spirit of God and I hope you'll listen to the message in my simple song "One Spirit".
My poetry evolved into songwriting and now I write songs nearly every day. "Keeping You This Time" made Runner Up for Song of the Year 2006 - link is above. Ged Roman arranged & performs "Keeping You This Time". I sang on "There's a Train" (had a cold when I sang!) so there you have it. My song "You and I" was on the Suggested Artist list for Song of the Year 2004. What else? I had the opportunity, together with my friend Oh Jae Shin, to write the English lyric translations for the Korean Won Buddhist worldwide temple hymn book, some of which were sung at the Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA during the opening ceremony for the Won Buddhist Graduate Studies Institute (I'll have to check on the proper name for their institute).
I Journey a Dream
I journey a dream of life
The river that is and is not
And I hold nothing dear
For nothing is mine to hold.
I too, am and am not
I dream this journey of a prayer
And I am no one and nothing
In journeying here to here.

The African Violet
Crying, crying,
the african violet opens to the day
blooms, dew-laden
in the most fragile conditions
and not without great care
even in these wildest of hands.

Everything Broken Down is Beautiful
Everything broken down is beautiful.
See, the sunlight sets on walls once covered
for centuries
and the colored shapes of light there
guide me back
into the forms of my soul
and so on, out into you,
now with me.
It is only a tall, weathered wall in front of me
open to the air
where once stairs, and people no longer with us, stood
but I hope they leave it bare
because no daylight shone then
for us to see the structure of things.
Nothing unmoving has to stay as it is –
even stone may liquify.
You,
Though I don’t see you,
your eyes are beautiful,
or if you can’t see,
your hands running over these words,
and I love your time,
your being,
your time with me
as you and I have broken down the old ways
to find each other, so long pressed into darkness
under the raiments, pure,
as this light I see
And like these fallen rocks
expose the keep of such a love
where only the Lord remains.
Now I weep
so stay, because we are beautiful
all together like this, broken down,
together again, igneous
and finally whole.
Be, hold my hand and don’t go
Because I love you this way.

Everything that exists
is the same Source
in different forms.
To deny this
is to admit
how terrible is our fear.
