Wishing You All A Happy Holiday Season. I hope that you and family are healthy.
I am happy to announce my new association with my old friend Peter Barker, and his partner Marc Schrobilgen at Threshold Sound + Vision, in Santa Monica. My company, MusiColor Entertainment, is now based out of this facility. In addition to doing my projects here, I am the new Studio Manager.
Threshold is really a great new operation, in the old Scotti Brothers Studios on Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica. This is a 21st century newly renovated state-of-the art facility, with great live tracking and control rooms, including the best in the latest and vintage gear. There is also a cutting edge (pardon the pun) Mastering Studio, another Post Mixing, Foley, ADR and Overdub Studio, and upstairs we have video editing suites. 5.1 Surround in every room throughout the complex. Some of our more recent clients include BB King, ZZ TOP, Bonnie Rait, Norah Joans, Green Day, Linkin Park, Elvis Costello, Alice in Chains, Kings of Leon, Herbie Hancock, Amy Kuney, Carrie Underwood, and Kanye West. And I have just begun producing Von Folta, a very talented new artist destined for international success.
We have a beautiful location, and a very talented group working here. For more info, you can contact me here or [email protected]

!Have A Great New Year!
Michael (Micky) Schuman
Ok…..So I Am from Oklahoma, why don't people believe me, spent the early years in a brick house, came to California when I was 5, grew up in Los Angeles (assuming I grew up), between Hollywood and Venice Beach, have been actively involved in the music and entertainment businesses for many years, immersed in, and surrounded by artists, music, musicians, recording, studios, record companies, and other creators of music and entertainment enjoyed by millions around the world. My passion and focus has always been music, I breathe and bleed it, and at the age of 17 had my first job in a well known Hollywood recording studio. With much dedication, long hours with experienced record makers, and lots of experimentation, early on intuitively learned, and continue to learn, develop, create and expand the fine art of music production.
By the time I was 21, pretty much already an expert independent recording engineer and record producer, was working in many of the best 'state of the art' studios in Los Angeles, from Record Plant, Capitol, United Western, and Ocean Way, to Paramount, Kendun, Yamaha, Motown (Hitsville), and The Village. Spent one great year in Sweden helping to discover, produce and record some of the most well known and successful artists in the country. Within the first month there, recorded and mixed the single that won the Eurovision Record of the Year, which is the European version of the Grammys. (Eva Dalgren, Columbia/GlenDisc) Many of the other artists I recorded continued platinum success over the years....from Tomas Ledin and Tommy Nilson, to Eva Dalgren, Anders Glenmark, Ann-Louise Hansen, Pontus Platin, Goran Rydh, etc. Also did a Norwegian Country Record (bet you didn’t think there was such a thing) with well known artist, Bjoro Haaland. (And speaking of Norwegian Country, (Ann Louise Hanson’s Record in Sweden was also country music in English), this might be a good time to mention that in my first year or two in the biz, I was involved in a childrens’ record at DCT/Quadtec Studios, entitled, “Mohammed ALI, vs Mr. Tooth Decayâ€, featuring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr, Ossie Davis, and others. Can you believe that? OK… Just remembered another one. Tho they may deny this, when 17 or 18, I recorded four different sound effects tracks; airport noise, office noise, traffic, etc, for THE MAGIC CASTLE in Hollywood. It was (allegedly) being used in the Men’s Room, the audio playing through a speaker near the pay phone, so men calling home with certain excuses as to why they would be late, could choose the appropriate background noise to help their case. True story, but no Grammy Nod on this masterful recording.)
Upon returning to the United States, I continued to work and earn Platinum and Gold Awards with, record, mix, etc such world renowned artists as Billy Preston (4 albums, one Grammy nomination, also known for work with The Rolling Stones, and as 'The Fifth Beatle ), Jermaine Jackson, Syreeta (2 albums), Smokey Robinson (2 albums), Switch (2 albums) DeBarge, The Jacksons, Michael Jackson, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks, Robbie Robertson (The BAND), Frank Zappa, Chaka Kahn, Rufus, Neil Diamond, Devo, Little Richard, Herbie Hancock, Berry Gordy, Iris Gordy, Kerry Gordy, Natalie Cole, Reverend James Cleveland, Andre Crouch, Sandra Crouch, LINX, Rita Coolidge, Michael Sutton, Brenda Sutton, Thomas Dolby, Cuba Gooding, Shelia E., The Cages, Ray Parker, Jr., Rudolph Isly, Paul Jackson, Jr., LaToya Jackson, Kim Fields, Jimmy Reid, Jr., Jr., Jean-Luc Ponty, Peter Nero, Laurindo Almeida, John Davidson, Pat Boone, Tata Vega, Black Russian, PFM, Michael Sembello, Michael Henderson, Little Richard, James Brown, Ron Wood, Robert Goulet, George Benson, Earl Klugh, George Duke, Feargal Sharkey, Mother's Finest, Dave Stewart, Tim Conway, Ice T, Cool Moe Dee, Stephen Bishop, Alan O'Day, Del Kacher, Bob Grabot, Ron Elliot (Beau Brummels), Wayne Newton, Stephanie Mills, the L A Philharmonic, Kim Fowly, Tom Scott, Tower of Power, Ernie Watts, Stix Hooper, Joe Sample, Wayne Henderson, The Originals, The Spinners, The Impressions, The Temptations, Walter Becker, Donald Fagen, Martha Reeves, Donald Atzet (New World Music Society), Gene Page, Sylvester Rivers, Paulino deCosta, Ndugu Chancellor, Jonathan Moffit, Benny Medina, Joe Pocarro, Jeff Pocarro, Steve Poccaro, Mike Pocarro, Steve Lukather, (ToTo), Steve Lindsey, Nathan East, Nathan Watts, Greg Phillinganes, Abe Laboriel, James Jamerson, James Jamerson, Jr., Michael Boddicker, Cornelius Mims, Eden Ahbez, Mark Mothersbaugh, Dwight Twilly, Jimmy Frank, Nicole Falzone, etc.
Berry Gordy, legendary head of Motown, continually attempted to bring me on board as an A&R executive and Staff Producer. There was even a friendly competition as Berry would occasionally try to remix and/or "out mix" me. Berry admittedly never could, and I continued to enjoy success with Motown independently. Later became the managing partner in another well known Los Angeles recording studio where my clients included Brian Wilson, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Wilson Phillips, Olivia Newton-John, Anita Baker, James Ingram, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Michael Kamen, Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures, etc. I also produced and recorded Tasha Scott for Michael Jackson at Jackson's home 48track studio during this time.
